Resounding success of 'Black Panther' franchise says little about dubious state of Black film

Sorry. Black Panther was just not that great. I don’t care if if it was black, white, yellow or purple. It wasn’t a good film. A lot of black filmmakers (Spike Lee) have painted themselves in a corner and there is a reason they don’t do well in international markets. Their films are too black and too America focused and only relatable to black Americans. Not saying Black panther was relatable but but it’s superheroes and has nothing really to do with the black experience in America. And any superhero marvel turns into a film turns to box office gold which can’t be said about DC even though Black Adam is a better film.
