Uuh, this boy agrees with the girls, but I wouldn't do it. How ironic...

Homies show us naked photos, taken using cellphones, of their gals all the time. Hope they don't pass it around, girls hope.

Oh, geez. Someone said something mean - that's life. It's not bullying.
I don't know why there is all this moral outrage/surprise that teens would use technology for sexual purposes. Isn't the tech just enabling a different way for teens to do what teens always do?

Learnt something new from this article.

That statement is incorrect. The frontal cortex development is finalized years before 20.

thanks to Captain Obvious for writing this article.

He is not wrong. He is right and it is well documented. Please look up some ed psych of adolescent development.
Sexting should only be for adults, as we are smart enough not to put our face on cam or in front of a camera while totally nude, and excited at that.

sexting is dangerous if you use predictive text.
example response to an erroneous predictive 'sext':
Why do you want to kick my aunt?
GW
stick to phone sex people, then you only have to worry if you get recorded which for most wud be unlikely
PepinGalarga
come on, stick to real sex, just ask Tiger.
remember not to share any pictures with any guys named Sammy from San Fran haha.
So what about all that crap I learned in college?

What a stupid article.

'more than a quarter of young people have been involved in sexting'--This is not surprising at all. In fact, the actual number is probably higher since some teens wouldn't want to admit to doing it. I was a little surprised that sending nude pictures could be considered a felony.
And it's no shock that teenagers will do things impulsively and acting on their emotions rather than thinking things through rationally. I also read that that the frontal cortex isn't fully finished forming until the early or mid-twenties. (Which makes me think that age of adulthood should remain at 20 in Japan.)
With information and images so easily passed around these days, it's up to parents to teach their kids how to handle it all responsibly. And as for the bullying, well, kids do mean things to each other whether it be online or in person, so again parents have to teach their teens to be kind to others and teach them how to deal with bullying if it happens to them. Basically, in the end, though, teens are going to learn from their own mistakes.

Jechan: haha. I kind of thought the same thing.
Sexting is probably NOT more common than I think because a teenager with hormones for brains and a camera definitely do not mix. Yes, I know it is a felony. Yes I know it happens all the time. Just offhand, I would say that it is prosecuted in about 1% or less of the instances that it could be. And still civilization muddles on....
GW
dolphingirl,
Its because young people are involved, its minors pictures being emailed around, ie it becomes child porn & thats where it gets outta hand with the law. I mean what if someone accidentally emails me these pics by mistake I cud be nailed for child porn, I believe this type of thing has already happened & are going through the courts.

Maybe they are sexting. But at least they won't get ill or pregnant that way. When I think of the things we got up to - in this day and age it would be trouble.
And yeah, it's been going on for ages. Maybe technology helps but the prudes aren't going to stop it.

Well, Mr. Speedracer: Let's just say that "sexting" simply shows that "civilisation" has some way to go still. Actually, I am not sure "civilisation" exists anymore (if it ever did). People are just too stupid, egocentric and careless.

It seems that like from Texting to Sexting, it is becoming some sort of a foreplay like "Sexercising" prior to ..... ahem!
