Sudden abortion focus shakes U.S. midterm election landscape

Funny using the word “focus” here.

Anyway, all according to plan as the Dems have struck out on everything else, especially trying to blame Putin for high gas and food prices, which is what most Americans are concerned about.

Its just not going to change the outlook for the Democrats a bump here or there in the polls. 33 Democrats are not seeking re-election they will lose the House, most likely the Senate and the presidency at this point. Crime, inflation and the border are the top and most important concerns for the American people. The GOP shouldn’t touch it, let the Dems run on abortion, let them hang themselves on the issue politically.

Repubs once again over-playing their hand...trying to re-make America in Russia and Iran's image...

Book burnings, "Don't Say Gay" laws, voting limits, now taking away a woman's freedom over her own body...

Americans don't want to live in MAGAstan....

A minority of Americans wants to ban abortions, but a majority of Republican men want to do it, and in America, what is good enough for the Republican men, is good enough for the whole body politic.

Repubs once again over-playing their hand..

They didn’t because the leak came from someone on the left, if the Dems think this issue will keep them in power after November.

trying to re-make America in Russia and Iran's image...

No, this administration pushed those countries together, so yeah, the withdrawal in Afghanistan didn’t help Biden’s stance on the world change.

Book burnings, "Don't Say Gay" laws, voting limits,

No one is burning any books and the Don’t say gay as been defunct, you just can’t indoctrinate little kids and teach them about sex at the Kindergarten level. Yeah, no thank you.

now taking away a woman's freedom over her own body...

Not at all, if the “Roe v Wade” is overturned (as it should) then it falls back on the States and if the people support it, let them vote on it, some states will block it and some will hold on to it.

Americans don't want to live in MAGAstan....

and especially with this President, it’s like a bad dream.

Yes, focusing on abortions to avoid focusing on the mess the Dems have made everywhere else.

Came from someone on the right to lock in the far-right justices...

Repubs and the Taliban - both wage war on women....

Weak - can't even defend his own positons...

So Blue states will have "freedom" and Red States won't....interesting....but consistent...

This President want to live in MAGAstan? You must be all for him then...

Do you honestly think it was only Dems who chose to withdraw from Afghanistan? Why do Repubs suddenly get memory loss of what happened during Trump's presidency, when they are so proud of him and of it?

No one is burning any books

They don't literally burn them - they take them out of school libraries, or in some cases, don't allow them into schools at all. And Repubs so love to complain about "cancel culture". It's very ironic indeed.

and the Don’t say gay as been defunct, you just can’t indoctrinate little kids and teach them about sex at the Kindergarten level. Yeah, no thank you.

It's not "defunct" - that bill passed and was signed into law. And kids aren't "indoctrinated" into being gay - people are born gay and no amount of influence from straight people will make them straight, just like no amount of influence from gay people will make straight people gay. But I don't have to tell you that, do I, since straight men are so very very proud of not being gay, so and so very very touchy about their masculine identities that they will very often beat up gay men and continually talk trash about gay people out of hate and fear.

And little kids NEED to learn about sex - I was six or seven when my mom explained how babies are made. I would hope that your mother did the same, or did she let you stay 100% ignorant until you were 18 years old? It's a ridiculous argument, and I think you know that.

Not at all, if the “Roe v Wade” is overturned (as it should) then it falls back on the States and if the people support it, let them vote on it, some states will block it and some will hold on to it.

This is a disengenuous statement if I ever saw one. In states where Repubs have control, abortion will be banned - and that most definity IS taking womens' right to control her own reproduction away.

We also have to be concerned that the court will use the same argument to take away same-sex marriage rights.

A slow and steady regression is what they've aimed at all along. We know that, so there's no use in denying it.

While the Democrats decried the draft, they suddenly have a clear, unifying message.

Finally; after, what, five years?
