“Our historic, patriotic and beautiful movement to Make America Great Again has only just begun,” Trump said. “In the months ahead I have much to share with you, and I look forward to continuing our incredible journey together to achieve American greatness for all of our people."

It's looking more and more that due to the GOP going too hyper-partisan and far-right for sane Republicans, a third party will be created by center-rightists, primarily sane GOP and former-GOP members. It will also pull some left of centerists as well, who are unhappy with the extremism of the far-left.

This will be a good thing for America. The GOP will fade into memory as a useless bunch of extremists, and two sane-parties will stand for the principles of the majority of Americans.

I guess I don't see it. The Democratic Party has been pulled far to the right from when I was younger. Nixon and Ford were more liberal than most modern liberals are today. The GOP has always had people like you see today. Little has changed since the early 1960s and Barry Goldwater. That wing of the part has always been there and probably always will be there. It waxes and wanes in relative importance over time. There were Johnny Birchers who claimed in complete seriousness that Dwight Eisenhower was a Communist.

What the US has not figured out his how to confront and remedy the social and economic problems that breed these kooks. It will take a lot of hard work in a lot of small towns and cities that are currently bypassed by the flow of economic progress. Lots of Americans have been left behind as the global economy grew and they are angry to be left behind. The GOP does a good job of tapping into this frustration and paying lip service to it even as their policies make the situation worse for these people. But those disaffected souls constitute the breeding ground of extremism. The US has to figure this out and address it in a comprehensive way. Splitting the Republican party accomplishes nothing and the Democratic Party is only considered to be left of center in the US because both parties have been dragged so far to the right. There really isn't a left wing party in the US. There never really has been either.

The Republican Party still belongs to Donald Trump.

That has gotten them pretty far lately but it works for me. Hope they stay together and lose even more voters next election.

Remember when they said (and were right) that the people were sick of Bushes when Jeb ran?

The people are sick of Trumps now.

He's a Loser. Twice. And will never be able to win again. That would take a Winner, and all Trump has done is Lose, Lose, and Lose some more.

I'm not sure there's ever been a bigger Loser actually.

In the past I voted for many Republicans, including for President, Senator, Representative, and Governor.

Not anymore! They have gone off the rails, and I do not support where they have gone.

When I was of age to vote, the first President I voted for was Reagan and I wouldn't change that today. But Reagan's GOP is long gone. If the Republican Party doesn't shed itself completely of Trumpism I will never vote for another one of them again.

Two time winner, actually. Twice acquitted on the most partisan political stunts in our lifetime.

I think its safe to say that Trump calling those who don't like him "losers" certainly struck a raw nerve with some people more than others...very telling.

Meanwhile, the MAGA train rolls on. Perhaps time some of you got a hobby other than Trump.

You have become him. He is you.

You're going to end up with three parties - Dems, GOP and GQP. The first one with 50% support, the other two with 25% support each. Good news.

Lost more than 200 filed court cases. Lost in the supreme court.

This is what happens when you are low information. There are those out there like this character who think the courts have heard the evidence rather than dismiss over procedural reasons.

How would you describe those who collapsed into hysterics thinking that Biden’s election victory would be overturned?

Honest question.

Desert Tortoise - bang on...

There was a part of a previous article that said that a/the main reason GOP reps are so "loyal" to Trump is because a great deal of the funding that comes is can be directly attributable to Trump - which - as you say - is due to those who believe Trump will help bring them along. I don't know if Trump was always a kook - or became a kook - I think he was a spoiled CEO who was used to running things his way and like alot of ego-maniacs - doesn't deal with dissenting voices - not exactly the kinda guy to run a democracy - Oddly - H. Ross Perot who probably would have been a similar executive - was never embraced - (starting his own party) - Dividing the Republican party - at least could potentially deflate any Trump resurgence -

The Dems screwed up I think - I think they should have impeached Trump on dereliction of duty and/or violation of this oath of office using the storming of the capitol as evidence- and while it seems that 56-58% of Americans polled believe Trump should have been convicted - he got off un-scathed -

but - yes - After LBJ - the center of gravity of both parties was farther left than today - it was the times - since Reagan - the center of gravity of economic wealth has moved up to fewer people having the most wealth - (not an opinion - mathematically provable)

I find it interesting to hear the stories of immigrants to the States - people who were fortunate enough to get to the States from some unfortunate place they came from - they only see being on the ground in the States as a positive thing - and do what they can to make - by their own hard work an initiative - one guy said - "today - there's so much free-ware available - and the internet - google anything" - if you can't make it in today's society - you can't make it anywhere - no sense of entitlement - exactly the fortitude we admire...

The difference is - these folks aren't looking for a political party to help them along - these folks are exactly the kinda folks you want as neighbors...

The Dems knew they didn't have a snowballs chance of getting a conviction on Trump and the main reasons were, they were quick to make this a snap impeachment trial, they moved it along as if it were a criminal trial which it never was, but that didn't stop them because the only thing they were focused on was to nail and hobble him any way they could and thankfully, it didn't work. Sneaky as the Dems were to cut out excerpts that favored their position to give Trump a vindictive and politically a besieged viewpoint while failing to add in the crucial parts where Trump asked his followers to be mindful and respectful while peacefully marching towards the Capitol.

45ists are without shame.

They twist reality, gas light and deal in falsehoods.

45ists are without shame.

For what?

They twist reality, gas light and deal in falsehoods

It’s the liberals mantra.

For what?

For standing by a liar and seditionist who incited a mob to attempt to overthrow democracy. Some even say that Qanon supporters are "very sensible people". Shocking stuff.

The Dems tried to do the same for 4 years and yet, they seemed quite content at undermining democracy then.
