In the US what you call a "neoliberal" is called a conservative or even arch conservative. Liberals in US parlance are on the left of the political spectrum, closer in spirit to what Europeans call Social Democrats though not nearly as far to the left policywise.

I am American. Neoliberalism is the dominant ideology in most developed countries, so it's not surprising that it is followed (to various degrees) by liberals and conservatives, but it's important to call it by what it is.
