U.N. and Afghanistan's Taliban, figuring out how to interact

It would be enlightening to hear the Taliban's explanation of the effectiveness of public executions and the display of humanity by use of portable cranes in "suspended sentences."

IF the UN endulges the Taliban in the matter of recognition and status, without first the Taliban acknowledging the rights of women and girls, and agreeing to take concrete measurable steps to protect those rights, than the UN will likely begin the realm of darkest days that the organization has ever self-produced for itself.

The imagination simply cannot wrap itself around how an organization, who has advocated to women's rights for decades, can suddenly reverse itself and give tacit approval for the Taliban's own particular vile brand of sadism and exploitation against women.

Let it be known as a certainty: that if your international organization cannot and will not stand up for women, then your group certainly cannot and will not stand up for anything of decency.
