Democrats helped fund some of these candidates, they must not be as afraid of "Democracy is hanging in the balance" as Mr. Taggart seems to be.

"U.S. midterms and the 'election deniers' threatening democracy"

American elections ARE rigged, but NOT at the ballot box. They are rigged in the worthless candidates that are selected to run who are ALL selected by MONEY. Candidates are even rated by how much MONEY they collect (promises to the deep pocketed Corporations and individuals made) and then presented to the voters who are told they have a CHOICE, Tweedledee or Tweedledum, whose manipulative words may differ but whose behaviors and policies are essentially identical. Biden or trump? What kind of a CHOICE was THAT? 25 competent people vied for the Democratic nomination and the second least competent (most compromised) was selected with the most incompetent selected as running mate. Again, there is no need for election fraud in the U.S. because the fraud begins way before the election. In American politics, the conscientious need not apply.

From the Pacific coast to the eastern seaboard, election denialism has seeped from U.S. state capitols into village halls, bars and living rooms -- sickening the U.S. body politic and threatening democracy itself.

Absolutely - all due to Trump who admitted to his staff that he lost the election to Biden, but then saw a chance to further scam and grift his supporters with a fake "Defend the Democracy" fund....

https://www.axios.com/2022/06/19/trump-admitted-election-alyssa-farah

Two weeks ahead of the midterm election, Republicans up and down the ballot are embracing defeated president Donald Trump's false assertion that the 2020 election was stolen and that voter fraud is rife. The Washington-based Brookings Institution has identified 249 of these so-called "election deniers" -- all Republicans -- in the 567 races for the House, Senate and key statewide offices.

The cult speaks - either spread the Big Lie or be cast out to purgatory....we don't care about anything else...

Mark Bayer, president of Bayer Strategic Consulting and a former chief of staff in the U.S. Senate, told AFP that U.S. democracy was at its "highest risk of unraveling" since World War II.

Truth - Trump and the Repubs have a chance to unravel and destroy our 200 year old democracy, and turn it into a dictator-like state similar to Russia and China...

"Allegiance to the 'Big Lie' was a major campaign theme for many deniers running for office. How might these candidates respond to losing their own elections, fair and square, in November?" he said.

They'll do what Trump did - admit in private that they lost but whine, cry and stamp their feet in public - then they'll beg for money...

Putin may lose in Ukraine but he'll win in the US if these anti-democratic Repubs get elected in Nov - furthering his goal of destroying America...

Our democracy IS at stake in Nov - don't let the Repubs and their Russian supporters and cohorts demolish it...

At the risk of seeming contentious, neither Russia nor China is a 'dictator' state or the U.S. would fully embrace them as it has SO MANY 'dictator states' (see e.g.: Iran (Shah), Ukraine, et alia) . The problem is with so-called 'democracy' itself which requires the HONESTY and conscientiousness of the People's representatives to function as it theoretically should. But, what we see in history is that 'democracy' failed in Ancient Greece, 'democracy' failed in Rome, and it's failing today in the U.S. not because of external pathological influences, per se, although there is that, but mostly because of internal corruption and the inattention of the People to it and their easy malleability programmed into them by the corruptors in early educational development. Dictatorial Hierarchy is Mankind's ancestral social structure and trying to operate in a different style without close and constant attention of all concerned is like a dedicated Heroin addict trying to live a straight life. The urge is always there to believe and follow the 'leaders' without questioning their motives. And media lives and is sponsored to facilitate that prostration to hierarchical power. It's in our 'genes'. Pure 'democracy' is a form of Anarchy and we Humans are no longer smart enough to be able to 'govern ourselves' and the psychopaths are always in control. But ANY political movement that abhors WAR is the BEST political choice for the long term welfare of any people and, particularly, their children.

the term "election denier" will expire in less than 2 weeks when losing Dems once again deny their losses.

"Hillary Clinton warns 'right-wing extremists' could 'steal' 2024 election"

Perfectly fine to say, huh?

threat to democracy is the 19th most important election issue and 38% think Biden is the threat- not Trump (45%).

80%+ agree the media is the primary threat to democracy.

If the Republicans win the November elections it will be because of voter fraud.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

the polls are looking like a red wave. which should concern liberals as the polls always give Dems an extra 2-5 points due to oversampling/bias.

Republican candidates who were losing by 10-15 points are now even or ahead.

Schumer caught on hot mic admitting Dems are losing even in Georgia now.

Fetterman is losing now too after that horrific debate performance.

You know you are in deep trouble when you need Kamala and Joe Biden to come speak on your behalf because they are more clear speakers than you are.

Even CNN said there would be a small red wave of "at least 25 seats" in the House.

No fraud- just democracy in action by voting.

That's hilarious - can't wait to re-post this after Nov 8th with all the whining and ranting by the Repubs that lost - they even claimed "rigged" during their own primaries against other Repubs....LOL....

Sure, it's the truth - they tried in 2020 - just ask Giuliani, Eastman, Navarro, etc...or maybe you'd like to forget about all those "fraudulent electors"....

Another day, another post full of far-right fairy tales...at least no "Hunter" this time....

The DOJ and Georgia AG have Trump dead to rights on both the obstruction of justice for lying about his classified stash and the interference in an election for the call to Raffensberger...

The only thing he'll be running for in 2024 is Rikers Island Librarian...

In short, by denying what the evidence tells us, you risk the very foundations of our democracy,"

So why does he say this but then immediately deny the evidence that shows us that things are horribly bad under this administration?

"(A) functioning democracy requires fidelity to the accomplishments of those in power. If things are bad, let the other side rule.

I agree with that. time for the "other side" to rule again after 2 years of "horribly bad".

That will never happen, Trump going to prison is like saying the Dems will retain the House.

US elections are just a silly joke.

archaic.

unclear.

and yes-rigged at the end.

and they are going to "teach" other countries how democracy looks like????

ROFL...

Do you think that the "losing Dems" are going to storm the Capitol, threatening to murder elected officials? If so, will you be willing to accept your mistake if they don't?

Perfectly fine to say, huh?

The truth usually is.

threat to democracy is the 19th most important election issue and 38% think Biden is the threat- not Trump (45%).

80%+ agree the media is the primary threat to democracy.

80%+ of who?

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Of people polled about the issue, of course.

https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2022/10/indifference-january-6-threat-democracy.html

”84 percent of respondents, including 83 percent of self-identified independents, consider the media a major or minor threat to democracy”

nobody cares about your Jan 6th. Too bad.
