What is amazing is that the Watergate burglary was unnecessary. Nixon won by a landslide. Paranoid politicians…

Nixon gave a thoughtful departing speech in which he seemed to show genuine concern for the nation.

I'm not sure the on-going pursuit of Trump is politically wise for the Democrats. It keeps him in the public eye, platforms him and keeps the kettle boiling for his supporters. Given that the US economy is becoming very toxic with rampant inflation, the sanctions on Russia increasingly backfiring on the US and its allies, and abortion facing bans, Biden's presidency is not going well. If Trump had drifted off into semi-retirement or TV work, it would have suited them much more. Their obsession with punishing him is looking increasing counterproductive. As they say in the movie, 'Let it go'. There are more important things to be getting on with. Their inability to draw a line under the last presidency may lose them the next one.

Nixon was taken down by investigative journalists (a rare breed now, often silenced in the courts) and an informant. The modern informant would have gone to Wikileaks, but that has also been silenced. We have had the Panama and Paradise Papers, but they seems to have fizzled out or been suppressed. We have not had any major hacks of government e-mails, despite Covid meriting a bit of unexpected transparency. Perhaps the net is already effectively censored, or maybe the hackers are too busy bilking corporates with malware.

That's what the Democrats want. He is their bogeyman - there to distract their voters from the horrible job the Dems are doing running the country. Nixon was a piker compared to today's Democrats.

But I think you are right, it's not going to work. Like Amber Heard sadly thinking her eye contact with the male jurors would win them over despite the evidence, the Democrats think their voters will overlook economic collapse, crime and war just to punish the orange bogeyman.

The good old dirty republican circus..

Those hearings are damning. Before I saw them, I didn't think they would ever charge Trump with sedition. Now the only reason I could see the DOJ leaving Trump un-prosecuted, would be to prosecute literally everyone around him, leaving Trump untouched, so that people know that dealing with Trump only ends up looking out from behind bars.

If I were a betting man, I definitely put the odds that Trump ends up charged with sedition out of all this. They have proved, through Trump's inner circle Republican testimony, that he was repeatedly informed and knew his plot to overthrow the government was illegal, had no basis in law, and would never survive a supreme court challenge. Yet, even knowing he was lying, and with literally no evidence to the contrary, he tried to tell the public that one man had the power to overturn 78 million voters and decide who would hold the presidency, and provoked his co-conspirator militias into trying to hang the vice president of America. There is no more clear proof of sedition than that. Even Eastman knew it - he decided he "wanted to be on the pardon list".

Trump is screwed. Guiliani is screwed. Eastman is screwed. Meadows is screwed. These people are going to jail. How long do you get for sedition?

Trump tries to overthrow democracy, proven beyond all doubt through REPUBLICAN testimony, and you blame it on the Democrats. Ok bruh, strong argument.

Not so sure, for one thing, there are others that will gladly step in to fill the shoes of the others and the Dems don't have long with this circus, they only have 5 months to play this sham before it's over and wait until the GOP launch their own investigations into these people, so these people better get ready.

If I were a betting man, I definitely put the odds that Trump ends up charged with sedition out of all this.

The DOJ is not going to charge Trump and the main reason why not is because of what I just outlined, if Garland and Blinken are called to testify and the screws are put on these people, it might end up bad for them, they already made the mistake of getting rid of the filibuster in the Senate thanks to Reid. Were it not for him nuking the filibuster McConnell probably would never have been able to appoint over 300 lower court conservative justices as well as Gorsuch, Barrett, and Kavanaugh, so I doubt Garland will charge Trump, the guy is not that stupid.

They have proved, through Trump's inner circle Republican testimony, that he was repeatedly informed and knew his plot to overthrow the government was illegal, had no basis in law, and would never survive a supreme court challenge.

They didn't prove anything and if they want to take that unconstitutional step and cherry-pick certain excerpts from Trump's speech to bolster their political partisan plan then Trump can take this to the Supreme Court, for one thing for violating his constitutional rights to have a fair hearing, this is not even close to a fair hearing another unconstitutional move by these charlatans. Trump has every right to have fair representation that favors him. Eric Holder was cemented to Obama's hip, his wingman and there was nowhere on God's green earth that he would abandon him. Trump should be afforded that same right, but because he is not, I see serious legal actions that will take place.

But when the Dems used the FBI and created a fake dossier in order to try and take out a duly elected President that was ok with the left. Democracy only matters to libs when it favors them, otherwise, everyone else is damned.

No, they are not.

If the Dems want to waste their time and hold onto something that will never happen, just go right ahead. This is now what... the 3rd attempt?

The Republican led committee has done an excellent job of having republican testimony and Republican video to probe that the republicans have been supporting a traitor who tried to overthrow the government.

Exactly Strangerland. The last of the remaining honorable Republican old guard know the extreme danger and gravity of what Trump did.

This is not politics. This the very possible destruction of the U.S. and only those who support Trump's criminal actions are the ones who refuse to see the danger. A danger not only to the U.S., but the entire world.

Who in their right mind would think they will survive the most powerful nation on earth going rogue? Only an insane person would think this. An insane person intent on destroying their own nations and societies.
