Yeah, Romeny is getting heat from even Republicans now about not releasing his returns.

Ooops.

Oh yeah,

Yknow what the only Republican who has seen 20 years of Mitt’s returns did?

He chose Palin instead.

So what does McCain know....?

"Given this, Haynes said, he would advise Romney not to release his returns, at least not yet."

No, not yet. Just before the debates would be perfect timing.

Screw those folks asking to see tax returns. It private and no one business expect between you and IRS.

Did he think everyone would forget that it was his own father, George Romney, who set the modern standard for financial disclosure? Did he not recall that when he was being considered for the vice presidential candidate four years ago, he furnished tax returns spanning more than two decades to John McCain’s campaign? Clearly he knew the subject would come up. The only reasonable conclusion to draw is that Romney believes that while stonewalling on his taxes may cost him some support, releasing them would cost him more.

@Tom Webb Once you wish to be the President of the United States of America transparency is a requirement. I'm not voting for anyone without a full detailed history of who he is.

Benjamin Franklin, a true American, once said "

Our new Constitution is now established, and has an appearance that promises permanency; but in this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes.

"

If this man is not paying his fair share of taxes to a government that previous Republicans brought to the brink of bankruptcy then he doesn't deserve to be President.

No more liars and cheats in the Oval office. Only tax paying Patriots. At the end of the day, even the conservative white voters will frown upon a Mormon who doesn't pay his taxes.

mitt is toast!

I am sure all those guys have all kinds of financial skeletons, maybe Mitt more than most, maybe not. But with all these Republicans coming out saying "I would release my taxes if asked" "I released all my taxes in my campaign" (See DantheMan's youtube link above), It amounts to a smear campaign against Romney b y the Republicans. Usually they would cover fior ea other or defend, or at least ignore the issue. Which makes me wonder who doesn't like Romney and why they want to give him trouble. My guess is he's got a very big enemy somewhere. (Taxes, ya, he's rich and oiut of touch, but beyond that...)

They could reveal that Romney, a devout Mormon did not tithe his 10% to the church

Do I detect a contradiction here?

McCain just weighed in, saying his rejection of Romney over Palin was because she was "a better candidate."

Wow. If I were a Republican, I would have preferred simple tax evasion.

Smoke and mirrors is the game both sides of the Republocrat plays. Likewise, why hasn't Obama released his educational records like other candidates? It goes both ways.

Herve,

You are completely wrong on this. No president has released their school records in the history of the US. W. Bush and presidential nominee John Kerry school records were released to the public by anonymous sources.

Can you tell me who released their school records?

Mitt happens

I don't think I'm totally stupid (although some posters may differ) but can any one tell me what this actually means:

"Sisyphean resistance"

Is it a anti body resistance to a STD? And if it is why would Mitt be against it?

Just wondering.

"Sisyphean resistance"

I'd say it's plain wrong usage. "Sisyphean" means "impossible to finish".

Why Mitt Romney won't release his tax returns: 6 Posibilities

http://news.yahoo.com/why-mitt-romney-wont-release-tax-returns-6-091100509.html

His income in some years was even higher than we think it is His tax rate in some years might have been (close to) zero He might actually have something to hide Huge donations to the Mormon church might raise questions He is just being arrogant The returns are perfectly OK but would divert attention to them for weeks

I vote 3, by way of 2.

Because a presidential candidate who holds most of his personal financial assets outside of the country is unlikely to be elected.

Silvan, what I meant was that the candidates should release their education records for the same reasons as their tax returns, transparency. Before buying a car, don't you check under the hood? BOTH theses guys should provide reasonable transparency.

SimonB, regarding your question about Sisyphean resistance, refer to wikipedia: ...compares the absurdity of man's life with the situation of Sisyphus, a figure of Greek mythology who was condemned to repeat forever the same meaningless task of pushing a boulder up a mountain, only to see it roll down again.

Mitt McBain clearly is hiding his lack of paying taxes at all. Bush said it once, rich people do not pay taxes. Mitt didnt and now he is attempting to hide that. Let the poor people pay taxes so I can get richer is the Mitt way, like many others in the 1%.

Just release them! What's hiding in the closet, Mr Romney?
