I remember the joke when Bush Snr was president: if he is shot the first thing the security will do is shoot Dan Quayle. But dull as he was, he would seem like a godsend in today's political climate.

Dan Quale, funny enough, had vastly more experience than JD Vance.

Well, Vance's role is different, I think. Trump both loves and detests sycophants. They boost his fragile ego and yet he despises them as spineless. But one who has come from a position of anti-Trump and been turned into a groveller is ideal. He has been emasculated - like others before him (Cruz, De Santis ...) - but Trump loves revenge so Trump will fatten then sacrifice him soon enough, like the capons that fill his bucket of KFC.

JD Vance is a scholar, a patriot and an American hero.

It used to be possible for the VP to deliver a state before the Republicans went full anarchist.

Absolutely, amazing man.

JD Vance called the UK an Islamist country.

LONDON — Labour ministers have rejected a suggestion by Donald Trump's new running mate that the U.K. is an “Islamist country.” J.D. Vance, named Monday as the Republican vice presidential nominee, described Britain under the new Labour government as the world's first “truly Islamist country” to have a nuclear weapon.

JD Vance insulted an American ally even before being elected.

Playing to the morons.

MAGA has never made the mistake of underestimating the stupidity of its audience.

Not a stupid man himself, but he knows his audience.

Anyone who as an adult converts to Catholicism is immediately suspect in my mind. If you read some of Vance's writings and those of the people from whom he draws intellectual (if that is the word for it) inspiration, they seem to reject competition (one of Vance's writings talks about how people in tech compete bitterly for jobs they don't want) , outright reject progress altogether and seem to see a sort of paternalistic religious government.

If you ever read conservative Catholic doctrine, the very American idea as expressed in the Declaration of Independence that government derives its just powers from the consent of the governed is considered by Catholic theologians as the rejection of god and a sin. The very foundation of American governance is a sin! Imagine that. To Catholic theologians only god can choose leaders and the great unwashed can only be allowed to vote for those pre-selected by the Catholic church (not so unlike how the Iranian Guardian Council has to approve candidates for office in Iran). To be fair, some evangelical groups say the same thing. This is the intellectual world JD Vance lives in.

They can reject and he can call if like he wants and how he sees it. We have free speech and that’s it.

Why?

This is the gets liberals always in trouble, they think way too much what others think without even confronting or talking to them, they come to their own personal conclusions and run with it regardless if their theory is right or wrong, it’s how they internally perceive it and will push their personal beliefs as facts. Best thing would. Best is to forgo all conclusions and give people the benefit of doubt especially when the person is deeply sincere.

So give fundamentalists the benefit of the doubt? How about no. Thomas Jefferson secured freedom of worship for the US which includes not having to engage in Christian activities.

Then that is on you, continue to lose then

As well as letting the people that want to worship do so without the fear of persecution or reprisals.

Only 20% of Americans attend church every week. Those unwilling to live under a secular government can be safely written off.

Nobody ever said people can't do what they want in their own houses. Well, Republicans try to.

JD Vance did not know Pakistan was the first Islamic country with nuclear weapons.

They can reject and he can call if like he wants and how he sees it. We have free speech and that’s it.

OK, I see. Calling fire in a packed theater is just free speech.

Only 20% of Americans attend church every week.

According to whom?

Those unwilling to live under a secular government can be safely written off.

Well, that’s your personal opinion. ROFL!

Nobody ever said people can't do what they want in their own houses.

Gee, the left does all the time.

Well, Republicans try to.

No, they only draw the line for the defenseless and the people that want to mock womanhood as nothing special.

JD Vance did not know Pakistan was the first Islamic country with nuclear weapons.

People make mistakes. Every president has, every one.

OK, I see. Calling fire in a packed theater is just free speech.

Well, liberals should listen to your statement, you just made my point for me.

JD Vance is an Islamophobic. Is that because of his Catholic faith? His wife is a Hindu who opposes Islamists.

Three in 10 Americans say they attend religious services every week (21%) or almost every week (9%), while 11% report attending about once a month and 56% seldom (25%) or never (31%) attend.

I don’t know, nor do I care, the man can feel the way he wants, most of it valid.

JD Vance is not the president.

But he is VP and a strong contender to carry on the MAGA movement, I’m stoked.
