Who wants to make a friendly wager that flights out of Haneda will be priced higher than those from Narita? Anyone? What, no takers?

Prices... I would bet that they will be at a premium.

If the are not flying to Atlanta, then I will stick with Narita.

Oh great, that must mean the biggest (and surliest and oldest) flight attendants might be coming to Haneda also....

Well, prices may go higher but at least it will save an extra hour to an hour and a half from where I live to Narita. Maybe now I won't have to take that slow Narita Express. Hope American can get that slot to NYC.

Well...who is going to bail out the Airport Limousine?

I don't think a couple of slots is going to negatively impact their business. Most people fly much closer than the US internationally.

I don't know why people bitch about Narita being far. I suppose if you live in the way west boonies or in south Kanagawa its far but it's not that far otherwise. Plus there's the new Keisei line opening in a few months that will cut the train time to Tokyo in half...

i think the people complaining are, yes like me, who live out in the boonies and travel over 4 hours to narita. after a 13 hour flight who wants to get on a train or bus for another 4. there are loads ot us out here in the boonies.

Why leave such an important decision to a bunch of brain-dead bureaucrats. Auction the slots annually to the highest bidder and give the cash back to the taxpayers.

This article doesn't mention that Haneda's internationl flights will only be served from late in the evening 'till early in the morning. If you wanna go during daytime you're stuck with Narita.

JTB must be excited about the good news. No they can overcharge especially for Hawaii.

Well if you're travelling 4 hours to Narita you are a minimum 2.5 to Haneda, so I don't see how that's helpful. You can drive the speed limit between the two in 1.25-1.5 hours...

If you have a meeting (or want to get to the bar in time for happy hour) the time savings can be important. My experience with the Limo Bus from Narita has mostly been good, but I have been stuck in heavy traffic a few times. So by using Haneda and avoiding the highways could really help. And incidentally, Limo Bus does run from Haneda also.

I never minded the trip to Narita and I lived waaaay west of Tokyo-to. I always saw the trip into Tokyo and then the trip to Narita as a part of the adventure of international travel. It's about the journey, not the destination.

otherwise known here as lose-lose

The Haneda-Narita connection is the most barbaric travel experience I've ever had. I made my outbound flight with 6 minutes to spare, then when I returned I spent 3 hours on the bus in traffic then another 2 hours waiting for my connecting flight. Add another 2 hours in the air and almost half my travel time was spent after I landed in Japan.

Like I said, barbaric.

A direct flight from Honolulu to Haneda would be welcome, but I am content to wander around Narita looking at the attractive women.
