I don,t think theses 5 free things listed above really would appeal to the average japanese tourist only going for their usual 3 4 day holiday stay.... As a former resident of sydney I can tell you , sure their free but you,ll end up paying through the nose at one of those Harbourside restaurants mentioned in the article... Also i don,t think the average Japansese tourist would put up with the tardiness of the public transport , and also the distance and time it takes to get from point A to point B....

They will put up with the public transport - just like we put up with public transport going to countries with even worse deals. Its part of the joy of the holiday; seeing how different cultures work (including their archaic transport system).
This list might appeal to the younger crowd, who are often really happy to hear that flights to Australia can be bought very cheaply these days. Now i just need to compile a list of cheaper hotels that i can recommend to them...

I prefer Broome of WA and Sunshine Coast Noosa than Sydney. Sydney is absolutely Men made and not many natural beauties and tourist attraction.. It is boring and expensive for tourists. The weather was not good like my previous visits. Of course it was a historical heritage town of British settlement. The old buildings are slowly dying and construction projects were everywhere. Suprisingly many Asians food outlets are outnumbering continental style food outlets. Some food and wine quality are superior than Tokyo, Singapore,Hamburg , Amsterdam and New York.
If we minus the food and historical heritage research, it is not worth for visitng there more than once.

Ohh yeahh, Sydney's 'boring', the weather's no good!?!? All there is, is food and "historical heritage research" (first I've heard of that and I've been here all my life). That's why there's THOUSANDS of Japanese living here (and Koreans, and Chinese, and...and....and....). Not many of us choose to go the other way, mate. Sydney's the greatest city on earth, you just have to understand it a bit better. If you want to go shopping, or sit on comfy high-speed trains, STAY HOME. If you want to visit a large metropolis with arguably THE MOST BEAUTIFUL BEACHES and NATURAL HARBOUR ON EARTH, come to Sydney. If you're tight Japanese boss only gives you a 7-day holiday every 10 years, then go to OSAKA, because that's the greatest city in Japan (because of the people).
