American Airlines, a founding member of the oneworld® alliance, has begun collaborating with noted chef Jun Kurogi to offer delicious and artistically prepared Japanese meals in Flagship Business on all U.S.-bound flights (Dallas Fort Worth, Chicago and Los Angeles) from Japan.

Chef Kurogi, the owner and main chef of the highly reputed restaurant Kurogi located in Shiba Daimon, Tokyo, has also supervised popular inflight meals served on Japan Airlines (JAL) flights.

Kurogi specializes in authentic Japanese cuisine featuring flavorful, subtly seasoned dishes infused with sincerity, his “secret ingredient.” His menu for American Airlines, created under the concept of "Pursuing the pinnacle of inflight dining," pays acute attention to preparation and artistic presentation to deliver an exquisite culinary experience.

American Airlines’ collaboration with chef Kurogi is one of the many positive outcomes of a long-standing cooperative relationship with JAL. Since 2011, the two companies have improved customer experiences through this initiative, including by expanding their mutual networks and developing top-quality inflight services.

Thomas Scruby, Commercial Director, Japan & Korea – Sales, said: “We are delighted to offer top-quality Japanese meals created by chef Kurogi through our cooperative relationship with JAL. The dishes are prepared with great care to ensure the full satisfaction of discerning Japanese customers. Going forward, American Airlines will continue attracting Japanese customers with superior value-added services.”

All American Airlines need to pick up their game in regards to in flight food - it is pure rubbish.

My last flight on AA a few years ago demonstrated to me that they need(ed) a total overhaul. Service, food, equipment, entertainment options, the works. I doubt I will ever take that airline again.

I don't think improving food on the margin, if indeed this does, will make much of a difference.
