ANA announces change in check-in cut-off time for Haneda International Airport and security check cut-off time for all domestic airports

All Nippon Airways (ANA) has announced that check-in cut-off time for ANA international flights departing from Haneda Airport will be changed from 40 minutes to 60 minutes prior to departure. This change will go into effect on Oct 27.

In addition, for all domestic flights from any airport in Japan, the cut-off time for passing through the security check point will be changed from 15 minutes to 20 minutes. This change will also go into effect on Oct 27. Similar changes were instituted last year on domestic flights departing from Haneda Airport.

ANA said it is enacting this policy to ensure passengers pass through security and arrive at their boarding gates with ease and on time for boarding.

"We sincerely appreciate the kind understanding and cooperation of our passengers," said Masaki Yokai, Senior Vice President of ANA. "To prepare for 2020 and beyond, we aim to adopt various measures to create the best possible experience for our most valuable customers."

In other words there's more passengers using Haneda and the Emigration checks will take longer.... or they want you to spend more time at duty free... ? both seem sort of related.

Wait more and more people are coming in and out of Japan and you are going to take out less time for check-in and security ?

Did the Japanese government give their consent for this, we are talking about possible implications for national security here.

I've seen passengers get on the plane after the scheduled departure time. These people need to be barred from boarding that late, and their baggage thrown off the plane.

I agree.
