ANA expands Asian online booking functions

ANA has expanded its website for China and other major Asian countries, by introducing a new online booking function enabling ticket purchases in the originating country’s local currency.

ANA’s website has always been able to reserve and purchase tickets in the Japanese language and currency (Japanese yen), but with the introduction of this new feature, it is now possible to purchase tickets in the same currencies as the fares established in the countries of origin. With this enhancement, ANA substantially improves the buying experience of online ticket purchase, and enables customers to easily make reservations and purchases in their own currencies and languages through the website.

To commemorate the introduction of latest features, ANA is offering an “Internet Bonus Mile Campaign” until Sept 30. By purchasing ANA international tickets via ANA’s website and boarding the flights during the campaign period, customers will earn bonus miles in the ANA Mileage Club.

Sometimes I really wonder at slowness of some of these firms. It's 2010, how could their website not have had the ability to book in local currencies. Am I way off here?

Wow. Just like the airlines in the US, Australia etc have been doing for years and years. I am with Tokyo Gas on this.

Japan's all pride and development in technology is primarily hardware oriented. They always underestimated the necessity of improving software technology.

Here we see the example.
