ANA InterContinental Tokyo to launch 59 brand new Club InterContinental Rooms

ANA InterContinental Tokyo will launch 59 brand new Club InterContinental Rooms on Nov 1. In keeping with the overall concept of the hotel – "When Tradition meets Luxury"– each newly refurbished room will showcase the elegant traditions, cultural heritage and national identity of Japan. With the opening of these 85 Club Rooms and Suites, located high on the 32–35t floors, the hotel said it will be able to offer guests a new and higher level of luxury.

The narrative for the design concept is kintsugi, the centuries-old art of restoring functionality. Kintsugi or "golden joinery" is a traditional Japanese technique in which craftsmen use a special lacquer, dusted with powdered gold, silver or platinum, as an aesthetically pleasing solution to lovingly transform an old, broken object into an exquisite piece of art. Emphasising the fractures and breaks with seams of gold, or another precious metal, celebrates the unique history of each artefact, often making the repaired piece even more beautiful than the original, and thus revitalising it with new life. Every repaired piece is unique because of the randomness with which a ceramic item might shatter and the irregular patterns that are formed and enhanced with the use of the metals. Interwoven with the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi, which means "to find beauty in imperfection," kintsugi teaches that broken objects are not something to throw away or hide but to display with pride.

Warm gold accents in the fabrics perpetuate the theme, which is specifically represented in the bespoke carpets, as well as in the original, commissioned artwork in the bedrooms and bathrooms. A wall of clear glass will visually unify each bedroom with its ensuite bathroom. Automatic privacy will be achieved by electro-chromatic glazing technology, which enables the glass to change from clear to opaque when the bathroom is occupied, while still allowing light to pass through from both sides. Behind the smart glass partitions, bathrooms will be enhanced with contemporary fixtures and fittings, including a spacious, dedicated shower cubicle to satisfy the primary need of the vast majority of guests for an outstanding shower experience.

In addition to the elegant in-room decor and thoughtful facilities, guests who elect to stay in ANA InterContinental Tokyo’s Club InterContinental Rooms will be treated to an elevated level of hospitality and personalised service. This includes exclusive and unlimited access to the Club InterContinental Lounge, one of the largest and most luxurious hotel lounges in Tokyo.

Comprising of a library, relaxation space, dining room and bar, the Club Lounge provides guests an expansive relaxation space, privacy, comfort, and a spectacular 35th floor view of the Tokyo Skyline. The experience is enriched with a personalised welcome and departure, and inclusive of a gourmet breakfast with à la carte table service, as well as all-day beverages and bite-sized snacks, refreshed to reflect the time of day. Complimentary high tea is served in the Club Lounge every afternoon, featuring delectable chocolates, cakes, sweets, and savoury items in tune with each season. In the early evenings, Club guests can freely select from a palate-pleasing range of Asian and Western canapés and tapas crafted by the Executive Chef, while bartenders wait upon tables with complimentary Champagne, wines, spirits, and custom cocktails mixed with first-class flair.

To support the launch of the Club InterContinental Rooms, additional exclusive benefits and services for guests staying in the Club Rooms will include the complimentary tokyobike experience, which will enable Club guests to easily connect to anywhere within the locality of the hotel by bicycle, also complimentary pool access (seasonal), the option of breakfast served in-room as well as three venues, breakfast on the move from Pierre Gagnire Pains et Gateaux, a complimentary shoeshine service (one time per stay), premium mini bar, restaurant reservation priority and THANN Spa upgrade programme. This is in addition to the existing Club Lounge benefits such as complimentary premium Wi-Fi, complimentary pressing of two articles of clothing per stay; complimentary local area code (03 only) telephone calls; and the provision of shower suites for early arriving and late departing guests.

The hotel is situated just 10 minutes’ walk from the TameikeSanno station on the Tokyo Metro Ginza Line, providing easy access to Tokyo’s many tourist attractions. It is this smooth connectivity combined with classic luxury and tradition that makes ANA InterContinental Tokyo a destination of choice.
