ANA to launch 5 international routes from Haneda

ANA will inaugurate five international routes connecting Haneda Airport with Los Angeles, Honolulu, Singapore, Bangkok, and Taipei (Songshan). This initiative ties in with the resumption of international scheduled flight operations from Haneda, which will take effect on Oct 31.

“We have long been waiting to operate international scheduled flights from Haneda Airport and we are extremely pleased with the news. We would like to express our gratitude to all those who have worked hard towards the internationalization of Haneda,” said Shinichiro Ito, President and CEO of ANA.

“Customers will find international flights to and from Haneda increasingly convenient, as this airport is easy to access from downtown Tokyo and offers fast connections to Haneda’s domestic network. These new services, combined with our existing flights to and from Narita Airport, will allow us to offer our customers unprecedented convenience and flexibility to their journeys. We look forward to this autumn’s new services and we will keep on striving to improve our network for the convenience of our customers.”

What ANA got Honolulu? That's awesome! I thought it was just JAL and Hawaiian airlines. I wonder what would be the departure/arrival time.

Sweet deal! I do the weekly to Korea and now I can finally get to Singapore! Goodbye Narita!

Thjis is good news, and I hope it eventually leads to the abandonment of Narita. Narita is just too remote from Tokyo, and also Saitama. The train services between Narita and Tokyo suck, and I dont think the new one will fare much better. When you arrive back after a long flight from Europe in the early morning, its ages before the fats train sefvices start up, and they are too few and far between. Narita is not a 24 hour airport, too, and the ATMS (if you manage to find one) are also not 24 hours. Its called an "International" airport, but there is nothing international about either it, nor Japan in general. Haneda is mor convenient to use, for a start, and already is a much superior airport to the awful Narita, stuck out in the boonies of Chiba.

@noirgaijin The planet cannot possibly sustain an average of even of a long haul flight every 2 years per person so please enjoy your flying while you can This debate about Narita and Haneda will shortly be irrelevant because flying will have to all but stop.We have no choice

I pass Haneda each time I have to travel international (which I do a lot), with dreams of one day being able to drive 40 minutes vs. 1 hour 45 minutes to the airport. Call me selfish, but I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Coming from Sendai there is hardly any difference in the time needed to travel to Narita or Haneda. I suppose it's handy if you are travelling from some provincial town with the occasional flight to Haneda.

Finally... Now how long until they can get rid of Narita.

Um, Narita was built to relieve Haneda, not the other way around.

And what a wonderful job they have done of it, too! An international airport that is NOT open 24 hours a day.

Yes, I do know why it isn't open around the clock but then it shouldn't have been built in the first place. At the very least, not in the middle of rice paddies in Chiba.

You do realize that for many living in East Tokyo, Saitama and Chiba, Narita is much more convenient? And that the new rail link from Ueno and Nippori will get you there very quickly?

It makes a great deal of sense for Haneda to handle flights to Seoul, Taipei and Guam/Saipan since for many people in the western part of Tokyo the time to get to Narita airport takes longer than to fly to these nearby destinations.
