But it is not trampling in the citizens rights if the government has the right to institute the policies it is using.

Yes it is, the government giving itself the "right" to trample everybody rights for no valid reason (since better results can be obtained without the policy) is not a justification nor it makes it less of a human rights transgression. It just make it "official".

If you read the news you would know how ridiculous a statement this is (which is why you do not supply a valid source)

This has been proved repeatedly in both my and your own sources, which is why you stopped bringing any, all the sites that count cases and deaths can be used to demonstrate what is quoted without any problem. Once again, outbreaks with much higher case and death numbers have happened in China during zero covid policy.

"Unfortunately, (the) Asia-Pacific region will lag this recovery as China continues to pursue zero-COVID."

But China has had positive growth during the entire Covid crisis; blame China now??

Trampling on their rights and choosing a less effective way of controlling the disease compared with other countires is not putting their citizens first, it is putting their way of controlling them first.

Since the number of deaths reported includes anything that has a possibility to be COVID related (and more importantly includes all deaths even if the patient had other diseases) this means New Zealand is only about to become as bad as China has been. I mean, compared with their 1000 deaths Hong Kong surpassed 9,000. It is quite obvious who is doing a worse job controlling the pandemic.

If you read the news you would know how ridiculous a statement this is (which is why you do not supply a valid source), but first, comparing a small country like New Zealand, with its low population density with a country like China, does not pass the basic science test. Regardless, while Shanghai (25million people) has reached zero covid New Zealand (5 million) has skyrocketing cases.

But I guess conspiracy theories have to start somewhere.

Good on China for putting its citizens first.

Meanwhile Covid infections ad related deaths are skyrocketing in New Zealand, which abandoned its zero covid policy,

China's zero-COVID policy will hold back a full air travel recovery in the Asia-Pacific region, a top airline industry group warned Tuesday, adding to calls for Beijing to ease its hardline stance.

Good on China for putting its citizens first.

Meanwhile Covid infections ad related deaths are skyrocketing in New Zealand, which abandoned its zero covid policy, while Shanghai had three consecutive days of no community infections.

Very simple math--zero covid policy keep the infection rate and related death rate the lowest possible.

Closing completely is not.

This illogical comment flies in the face of the facts, and has no rational foundation.

Economic problems are a secondary damage from China's retrograde and antiscientific approach compared with the loss of lives it is causing with the policy, but it is still important nonetheless. But going all the way to eliminate all measures is equally invalid.

Testing and a limited form of quarantines for unvaccinated people is still regarded as necessary because the pandemic is still ongoing and the possibility of variants is there. Closing completely is not.

Time for an authoritarian regime to rule and force vaccination on those (mostly elderly citizens) whose' mistrust of vaccines is affecting the future of the country and the livelihood of the young.

Not doing so says the CCP don't trust their own vaccines either.
