Experience Tokyo with Visa

Visa is launching its “Experience Tokyo with Visa” campaign to help Visa card holders save money while visiting Japan. The campaign, set to run through June 30 2009, offers cardholders discounts at various stores around the Tokyo metropolitan area.

Visa cardholders can receive gifts and discount prices by showing coupons or using their Visa card at any of the 51 stores participating in this campaign. The stores include Yodobashi Camera and Bic Camera stores and special gifts from department stores including Marui and Odakyu. Program flyers for this campaign will be available at locations including travel counters, hotel lobbies, and participating merchants

Currently, Visa is running the “Haneda Airport Japan Duty Free Campaign 2008,” which allows Visa cardholders a 1,000 yen discount on purchases over 8,000 yen at duty free shops at Haneda airport. In order to take advantage of this campaign, cardholders should download and print out the PDF coupon download available on Visa’s website. The information is available in English, Korean and Chinese.

Since the start of the “Visa Japan Campaign" in 2003, the number of foreign visitors to Japan has surpassed 8.3 million in 2001. The Japanese government aims to attract 10 million visitors annually to Japan by 2010.

How could you not know? They have Logos for the cards at the checkouts. Bought a Nintendo DS for a relative a few months ago. Would have been nice to get a little kick back.

I'm so used to credit cards NOT being accepted anywhere that I kinda just stopped looking. shrug

Yes you can use a foreign card in Japan in 7 11 stores. I withdrew money and it only cost $2.50 transaction fee. Not bad compared to bank and airport fees >:(.

My credit card is actually a bank debit card.
