I've never been pick pocketed in France. I know French people have a reputation as being "snooty", but that wasn't how I felt. They were concerned and provided warnings that seemed completely honest, if unnecessary.

Have been pick pocketed multiple times in Spain and the Spanish police didn't seem interested in actually solving the crime. They wrote a report, which I used for insurance claims and to get replacement ID back home. ID, cash, cell phone(s) gone. Hours wasted in a police station waiting for anyone who could speak English in a mainly tourist area. That seemed really odd, since finding people who spoke excellent English anywhere else wasn't any problem - just the police couldn't.

One of the high points of my life was riding my trusty US registered BMW motorcycle through the streets of Paris, finding where I wanted to go and splitting lanes with the French riders on their Autoroutes. Felt just like an LA freeway! The Gendarmeries even let my park my bike in with their BMWs to attend the Paris Airshow. It was a good time.

I am sure that a quarter of the tourists in France are just those who got stuck there during their travels to other places due to some strike. The way to create more “tourists” in France is to make the strikes more frequent and longer.

Thirty percent fewer Japanese visited the country than in 2019.

.

I expected the number to be much higher as the Japanese are becoming poorer year-on-year
