Hilton has signed two new hotels - a Waldorf Astoria hotel in Osaka and a Conrad hotel in Chongqing, China.

The two management agreements were inked with Orix Real Estate Corporation and Chongqing Jiafa Industrial, respectively.

Slated to open in 2023, the Conrad Chongqing will be located on Nanping West Road in the Nan’an district of the city.

With river and city views, the hotel will feature 240 rooms, three F&B outlets, and approximately 1,370 sqm of meeting and events space.

The Waldorf Astoria Osaka will feature 252 keys with room sizes starting from 50 square meters.

Scheduled to open in 2025, the hotel will occupy 12 floors of a new high-rise building in the southern part of the Umekita Second Project, an urban redevelopment project north of Osaka Station.

Facilities will include a variety of restaurants and a destination bar, an indoor pool, fitness centre and luxury spa. There will also be a wedding chapel, and a good assortment of meeting and event space.

Alan Watts, president, Asia Pacific, Hilton, said, “For more than a century, Hilton has thrived in key destinations all over the world, even through some of the most challenging periods in history. The strong growth momentum in Asia demonstrates the resilience of Hilton’s luxury brands amidst a dynamic operating landscape as a result of the COVID19 pandemic. It also signals great confidence from the owner and investment communities in the strength of our luxury brands. We are confident that together with our partners, Hilton will emerge from this pandemic stronger than before as we continue to deliver the light and warmth of hospitality to our guests and capture growth opportunities across key destinations for our owners.”

Other notable luxury milestones building the momentum for Hilton have included the signing of Waldorf Astoria Tokyo Nihonbashi a year ago, representing the debut of Waldorf Astoria in Japan, closely followed by the opening of Waldorf Astoria Xiamen marking Hilton’s sixth hotel to open in Asia Pacific under the luxury brand; along with the multi-deal signing of four luxury hotels in China with the Shimao Group in April of this year.

Most recently, Hilton launched its newest luxury brand in Asia Pacific with the opening of ROKU KYOTO, LXR Hotels & Resorts in September 2021.

Launching as well before the year closes is Conrad Jiuzhaigou which will bring the brand’s renowned contemporary design and intuitive service to travelers in the Chinese province of Sichuan when it opens in November 2021.

Hilton currently operates 30 hotels across its Waldorf Astoria, Conrad and LXR brands in Asia Pacific, with a further 17 hotels in its development pipeline, due to open over the coming years.
