Hyatt Regency Seragaki Island Okinawa to open in late August

Hyatt Regency Seragaki Island Okinawa is now accepting reservations for arrivals on Sept 1 and beyond, through hyatt.com or any Hyatt reservations center worldwide. The first Hyatt beach resort in Japan, the luxury hotel is slated to open in late August 2018.

Presently under construction on its own island less than 60 kilometers or approximately one hour from Naha Airport by car, the 344-room Hyatt Regency Seragaki Island Okinawa faces the East China Sea in Onnason, one of Okinawa’s premier beach destinations. Located midway between the main island’s northernmost and southernmost points, Onnason is an ideal base for travel, whether to the rugged scenery of the Yanbaru area to the north or to the many UNESCO World Heritage sites dotted around the central and southern areas. Limousine bus service from the airport to the hotel will be offered.

Interior design by the Tokyo-based Hashimoto Yukio Design Studio draws from the rich traditions of Okinawan culture to create relaxed, uplifting spaces that make it easy for guests to connect and recharge. Throughout the property, sea, land and sky are united through breezy open passageways dappled with natural light. Of the 344 rooms, 320 will be housed in a seven-story wing on Seragaki Island; the remaining 24 will occupy a three-story beach house on the Okinawa side. A short bridge links the two zones, each of which will enjoy direct beach access.

Standard guestrooms on the Seragaki side will start at 38 square meters in size. The 181-square-meter Seragaki Island Suite will count among the largest hotel residences in the prefecture, with a terrace adding 157 more square meters of space. The 24 beach-house rooms, ranging in size from 55 to 79 square meters, will be efficiency apartments suitable for families and longer stays. The largest will be equipped with full kitchens; the smallest with pantry-style kitchenettes. Upon arrival in the main reception area, guests are greeted by a massive mural of a genial blue whale on a gold-leaf field.

Six dining outlets will offer notable culinary experiences featuring locally grown heirloom produce and fresh catch of the day from Okinawan waters, in spaces that promise to create a new go-to hub of excitement in the local dining scene. Five flexible banquet venues may be configured to range in size from 90 to 150 square meters, comfortably accommodating business retreats as well as social gatherings. Each banquet room will have ocean views and terraces. The on-site Seragaki Island Chapel seats up to 40 people and will have a 10-meter aisle stretching toward the sea. Now with the launch of room reservations, prospective brides and grooms and their wedding parties can book and plan their entire stay at a beach resort exceptionally suited to destination weddings.

“We will maximize our island location to provide a novel, one-stop experience that guests will want to return to again and again,” commented General Manager Hiroko Noguchi. “Expect comfortable airy rooms and restaurants that will make you content to stay right where you are. We hope to be the reason why travelers choose Okinawa for their vacation, and look forward to many fruitful years promoting the village of Onnason and Okinawan tourism to a wider reach of travelers in the Asia-Pacific region.”
