IHG to expand Six Senses brand to Kyoto

IHG has confirmed that the first Six Senses hotel in Japan is expected to welcome guests from April 23.

Located in the historic Higashiyama district, the Six Senses Kyoto enjoys a prime location with the Myoho-in Temple, Kyoto National Museum and Sanjusangen-do Buddhist Temple all within easy walking distance from the hotel.

The Six Senses Kyoto is also a 90-minute drive or a 70-minute train ride from Kansai Airport, and just a 10-minute drive from the Kyoto Shinkansen bullet train station.

“We are thrilled to announce our debut Six Senses opening in Japan,” said Nicolas Black, the hotel's general manager. “There couldn't be a more fitting location than Kyoto in the cultural heart of Japan, where age-old sustainability traditions thrive, and well-being is deeply ingrained in the way of life.”

The 81 guest rooms and suites, ranging in size from 42 to 238 square meters, have been designed to offer views of the central courtyard, the gardens of the neighboring Toyokuni Shrine, or the cityscape of treetops, temples, tea shops and rooftops.

The pinnacle of the accommodation is the Three-Bedroom Penthouse Suite on the top floor.

Facilities at the hotel include a choice of F&B outlets, a spa, traditional male and female bath houses, an indoor pool, wellness facilities and a gym.

Expert guides will also be available to lead guests on tailored adventures through hidden alleys, age-old temples, and the vibrant markets of Kyoto.
