Thanks to the Internet and Google Street View, you can see the world from the comforts of your own home. Eat a turkey leg while touring the Palace of Versailles or walk through the Taipei Train Station in your birthday suit, it doesn’t matter what you’re doing or how little you’re wearing while virtually touring famous sites online.

If you’ve ever dreamed of traveling around Asia, but haven’t quite saved enough time or vacation days, you can always take a virtual tour on Google Street View. Let’s take a look at the top virtual tourism locations in Asia.

  1. Yufuin Town (Japan)

  2. View of the Marina Bay Sands from Fullerton Heritage Promenade (Singapore)

  3. Jiou Fen Old Street (Taiwan)

  4. Roppongi Hills Mori Tower (Japan)

  5. Osaka Castle Park (Japan)

  6. Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park (Japan)

  7. Dotonburi Canal (Japan)

  8. Hashima Island (Japan)

  9. Mount Fuji (Japan)

Japan took an impressive 7 out of the 9 spots, proving that people all over the world are interested in Japan. However, it seems that Japan falls somewhere in the 5th to 10th most visited Asian country in terms of real-life tourists. Travelers must be choosing relatively inexpensive Asian countries for their destinations and saving money by virtually touring Japan, a notoriously expensive locale. Reference: Mashable

That may be related to the fact that only Japan has been pretty much completely covered by Google Streetview. None of China has been covered, and just a few places in Thailand, for example.

As Gokai here said, apart from Taiwan, some parts of South Korea and most of Japan. Where else on google maps is Asia fully covered in?
