Jetstar has become one of the first low cost airlines in the region to launch a price monitoring system.
Price Watch is a free email alert service that enables travelers to be among the first to know when flight prices drop to, or below their ideal price. It will also send a weekly update email on how prices are currently tracking. This allows travelers to make a better decision on when to book airfares to obtain the best deal.
“The new Price Watch service is yet another practical way for us to make traveling even more accessible to more people. Flight prices can quickly change with time, and from now on you can let us do the hard work for you. Activating Price Watch alerts could save you money on flight prices on your chosen route, so you’ll be able to travel more or spend more at your destination," said Chantal van Wijnbergen, Regional Manager Marketing & PR, Southeast Asia.
Customers can go to jetstar.com, search for flights and click on the “Watch prices” button. After entering their desired price, email address and the number of passengers travelling, they will be given an option of either choosing their intended travel dates, or selecting “Watch prices” for the alert to be activated.

Budget air line are all well and good, but quite often to be competitive on price something has to give, usually service and maintenance for the aircraft, which is not good.

Sounds like a savvy move to beat potential disruption from others providing similar services, and in such a tight market, a good way to get a leg up on competitors like Peach air.
