Judging from level of complaints in U.S., air travel getting worse

The problem is the US airlines. They abandoned anything resembling good service many years ago.

The system is beyond capacity in all respects. The solution is to fund the infrastructure that is needed and clamp down on bad behavior by airlines when they screw up.

Already worse long time ago.

The US is bad, but I have seen a severe drop in service over the years. It's all over the world. Airline service is just getting worse and worse everywhere.

I flew recently from SFO to Orlando and paid extra for business class to avoid the dold out economy then the guy sitting beside me started religious chanting for 30 minutes. It was maddening because it was a redeye. There is no escaping the bad service and inconsiderate other passengers. I think the only way is to take a xanax.

If you hit your 30s and have even a glimpse of conscience you're done dealing with strangers.

You could have told the guy beside you it's impolite to mumble things for 30 min. while sharing a very small space with others. Tomorrow you can ask for the person kicking your seat every 5 min. to refrain doing so. Next day ask the person next to you to turn down the volume. Rinse, repeat. How do you raise people to be like that?

Another problem is really the overbooking. It seems many flights are now overbooked so everyone is stressed to get on and any space for luggage. A true nightmare.

Training, procedure manuals, and performance evaluations should offset lack of experience to a great degree. Don't the companies themselves bear some responsibility?

My biggest issue with the air travel industry in the U.S. is the attitude of the ground staff. Delays happen, sure, no way around that. But you should at least be apologetic about it, rather than being brusque and visibly annoyed that I need you to rearrange my travel itinerary because of it.

The experience at the TSA queues has a lot to do with the sour mood most people are in on US domestic flights. After the hassle of check in, dealing with a bunch of supercilious morons.

Read the title it says "Judging from level of complaints in U.S., air travel getting worse" never did it say air travel in the US is bad it says AIR TRAVEL is getting worse, the title suggest all the complaints are coming from people who are in the US, but no matter where you are taking off from or landing air travel is getting worse!!!

People who talk across oneself whilst I sit in the middle seat are very rude.

Especially considering the offender in the aisle seat, does not what to sit in my middle seat, so they can talk away to their bestie unhindered, without me being the middle man.

It is a mix of unruly passengers and less-than-great experiences with air travel.

Remember when airport security worked for the airport and didn't have arrest power? They said "professionalizing" the TSA would make it better. It hasn't. Everyone thinks the TSA is a huge hassle. We would fly to more places because it was more convenient. Post-TSA, we drive much more often. 7 hrs in a car is better than dealing with the TSA and airlines. Nail clippers aren't allowed in carry-on? That's just stupid. The TSA must have collected 10 of my tiny keychain knives. They were about to relax the rule to allow those again, but the flight crew lobby got that stopped at the last minute.

People who travel by air used to act respectable. It was an event. In the last 30 yrs, it has become the local bus system of the US with more hassles, but the same number of smelly people.

Just look at all the captured videos of obese airline passengers being unruly. Low class passengers are probably the root cause, so the airlines have needed to shift their attitude to deal with that sort of passenger.

BTW, perfect photo at the top of this article. Nobody is wearing suits and dresses anymore. They are ready to rumble!
