Mandarin Oriental Shenzhen to open Jan 20

Mandarin Oriental has confirmed that its new hotel in Shenzhen, China will open on 20 January 2022.

The hotel is located on the upper floors of a striking new 79-story building in the bustling Futian business district.

Each of the 178 rooms and suite, which are amongst the largest in the city, enjoy sweeping vistas of the cityscape, greenery of Lotus Hill Park, Bijia Mountain Park and Shenzhen Bay.

The Mandarin Club, located on the 78th floor, provides a private lounge experience for guests, with numerous food presentations throughout the day.

The Mandarin Oriental, Shenzhen’s eight restaurants and bars include Cantonese fine-dining by Michelin-starred Chef Fei and Spanish, European, Japanese and Pan-Asian restaurants, along with a sleek rooftop bar offering cocktails and rare malt whiskies, as well a cake shop serving patisseries from the hotel’s Afternoon Tea menu.

 The luxury hotel also features a spa, fitness centre and an indoor swimming pool.

Just right for forced Covid quarantining.

I am assuming this for the Olympics.

Does the hotel stay come with a complimentary anal swabbing to check for COVID or is that only by the government when entering the country?

I think that will be the first barrier for most potential tourists. The second would probably be the possibility of an unexpected shutdown (forced quarantining) of the entire city once the infection has been detected.

The third would probably be the spying and tracking of one's movements by the Chinese government.
