@divinda

Royal Caribbean, Pullmantur Cruises, Phoenix Reisen Cruises, Disney Cruises, Costa Cruises, Celebrity Cruises

Those were after passenger service shut down. Global sailing stopped by early April of 2020.

@divinda

Oh, and don't forget Princess Cruises.

Princess is a brand of Carnival. Yes, only Carnival brand ships were hit by passenger covid outbreak in 2020.

Yeah, and bring back "The Love Boat" while you're at it.

Only one cruise line(Carnival) suffered from outbreaks

Oh, and don't forget Princess Cruises. They had multiple ship outbreaks, including the infamous Diamond Princess which was parked in Yokohama for weeks full of infected passengers.

Only one cruise line(Carnival) suffered from outbreaks.

One? More like all of them.

Royal Caribbean, Pullmantur Cruises, Phoenix Reisen Cruises, Disney Cruises, Costa Cruises, Celebrity Cruises, and several more. And many had outbreaks on several of their ships.

Norwegian didn't have single outbreak before the shutdown.

Norwegian had a big COVID outbreak on a cruise last August.

@Kaerimashita

Although at 60% they won’t be making tons of money for a while.

1) Modern mega cruise ships(160K tons or greater) are profitable at 35% capacity.

2) When they restrict capacity, this means not selling cheapest cabins. So the revenue drop isn't 40%, more like 20%.

Is this the return of the "floating petri dish"?

Only one cruise line(Carnival) suffered from outbreaks. Norwegian didn't have single outbreak before the shutdown.

Again, the proposed condition of sail resumption is 100% full vaccination of all passengers and crew.

@1glenn

then it should be safe to cruise again, no?

Currently children under 16 cannot be vaccinated, so this excludes lots of families.

But CDC did mention a mid-summer sailing resumption once Norwegian brought out vaccination mandate plan, so the answer is yes.

If the crew is vaccinated against Covid-19, and if the passengers are too, then it should be safe to cruise again, no? I read that most of those where I live who are over 65 are fully vaccinated, and Biden has said that shots will be available to everyone in the US, except those under 16, in twelve days. So, a July startup might work, except that children might not be allowed onboard until after the clinical trials are competed for children.

Looks like even cruising is coming back. Although at 60% they won’t be making tons of money for a while. NCLH up 100% from its lows
