Peach Aviation Ltd has announced that as of March 1, 2018, it will open its Niigata – Osaka (Kansai) route.
The opening of the Niigata route will be the first for a Japanese LCC. Peach will operate one daily flight to and from Niigata and Osaka (Kansai) daily.
Representative Director and CEO Shinichi Inoue said on the opening of the Niigata route: “Niigata and Kansai will become closer in the time to come. The prefecture of Niigata is an area that is filled with appeal, both for its gourmet offerings and tourist resources, and I have no doubt that huge potential demand exists. Famous for producing quality rice that represents Japan, sake, ski resorts and onsen hot springs, it’s an attractive area that offers people a sense of Japanese character, not only for people in Kansai but for those in Asia as well. Niigata is also a popular area for the art festivals and music festivals, and it’s a place where culture has continued to be cherished since ancient times, coexisting with new culture today.
"The opening of Peach’s route is sure to bring in many people from Kansai and also from Asia through Kansai Airport. Peach intends to work together with the people in Niigata and the Joshinetsu area as it hopes to contribute in livening up the area, invigorating the regional economy, and boosting its regional revitalization. I hope that in turn, people in Niigata Prefecture will take advantage of our 'Flying Trains' for leisurely visits to Kansai and from Kansai to Asia.”
