Why ban laptops but allow smartphones, iPads, electric shavers etc? If laptops are such a huge concern why not just insist that their batteries be removed? That way you could buy a new battery when you arrive at your destination.

Probably due to smaller batteries

If laptops are such a huge concern why not just insist that their batteries be removed? That way you could buy a new battery when you arrive at your destination.

Some laptop batteries aren't as easily removable anymore; plus some laptop batteries are harder to find than others

Just carry-on the laptops
