Shangri-La Hotel, Tokyo, is offering a special stay package in celebration of having been open for 100 days. For 100 days, until Sept 17, guests can experience a deluxe room from 49,665 yen per night (tax and service charge included), including breakfast and a 100-day commemorative gift, single or double occupancy, subject to availability.
The commemorative gift is a Shangri-La original music compact disc titled "Tokyo Horizon," launched in celebration of the hotel’s 100-day anniversary. The compilation album is produced by Nick Wood, a Japan-based singer and producer, and contains a tune dedicated to the hotel. Moreover, guests who stay with the 100-day anniversary package will be entered in a prize draw. The winner will be entitled to experience a one-night stay in the Presidential Suite on level 36, the hotel’s largest room spanning 269 square meters, which is not yet on general release but is scheduled to be 1 million yen per night.
Reservations for this special offer can only be made online at http://www.ikyu.com.

If you stay on a Tuesday in February.

so if 500 bucks a night is 'special', what's the extortionate rate for the rest of the year ?

This special package is just a scheme to fill all those empty rooms. Quite common with a lot of hotels these days.

I probably could only afford their breakfast....:)

"From" 50k/night. "From."
I think for 50K I'd hop on a train, go somewhere new, stay a few days... You know, not spend 50K +++ on a freakin' room in Tokyo.

I would probably do the same pawatan. I guess this article is meant for only a certain 'class' of readers...:)
