Star Alliance launches iPhone app

Passengers traveling on the Star Alliance network now have access to all alliance-related travel information through their iPhone. The new Navigator app delivers up to the minute information about flights.

It includes:

• Flight Status - real time flight status updates with departure and arrivals information and map view • Flight Schedule Search - search for flights right across the Star Alliance member airline network • Airport Information - comprehensive information including maps • Lounges - location and facilities of the more than 970 lounges which eligible Star Alliance customers can access across the globe • City Guides - where to stay, eat, drink, shop, etc.

Commenting on the launch of this new app, Christopher Korenke, Vice President Commercial at Star Alliance, said, “The use of mobile technologies is today essential in improving the travel experience for customers. With the rising number of travelers using smartphones, accessing important travel information on the go is essential. With the Star Alliance Navigator we now take the first step in providing what our customers want from us in the field of mobile information.”

The app is the Alliance’s first on the iPhone and is currently available in English as a free download from the Star Alliance website or from the Apple App store. Further language versions and operating systems are expected to be released soon.

The Star Alliance member airlines are: Adria Airways, Aegean Airlines, Air Canada, Air China, Air New Zealand, ANA, Asiana Airlines, Austrian, Blue1, bmi, Brussels Airlines, Continental Airlines, Croatia Airlines, EGYPTAIR, LOT Polish Airlines, Lufthansa, Scandinavian Airlines, Singapore Airlines, South African Airways, Spanair, SWISS, TAM Airlines, TAP Portugal, Turkish Airlines, THAI, United and US Airways. Air India, Avianca-TACA, Copa Airlines, Ethiopian Airlines and Shenzhen Airlines have been announced as future members. Overall, the Star Alliance network offers 21,000 daily flights to 1,160 airports in 181 countries.

this app is useless did they even test it before sending to the app store? you cant even choose a date from the flight status screen I hope the fix it asap.
