Survey reveals most expensive luxury hotels in Japan

The most expensive hotel in Japan is located in the coastal city of Shima, according to a survey conducted by Luxury-Hotels.com.

The survey compared prices at all luxury hotels in Japan based on the rate for the most affordable double room during January and February 2018 – the months when hotel rates across Japan, including in the capital city of Tokyo and many other destinations, typically reach their peak.

With a minimum rate of $1,204 per night, the Amanemu resort, located on the stunning Ago Bay in Japan’s Ise-Shima National Park, leads the rankings. The second most expensive hotel according to the survey is the Gora Kadan resort, nestled on a picturesque mountainside surrounded by hills and hot springs, which will set you back $1,140 for the cheapest double room.

Tokyo's priciest hotel is the Aman resort, part of the same hotel group as the Amanemu resort. With a minimum rate of $1,006 per night, the hotel, located at the top of the 40-story Otemachi Tower in the city’s Otemachi business district, completes the podium. Meanwhile, another four hotels in Tokyo make the Top 10, among them The Peninsula ($680) and the Four Seasons ($669).
