Because business people are immune to covid, whilst tourists are biohazards? Because locals are more likely to catch Covid from foreigners than from their neighbours and families?

The discrimination in these policies, mainly in Asia, is having an effect. For example, learning Japanese or Mandarin is now looking like the worst personal investment you could ever make. Even ignoring the endless comments on JT from expats in Japan bemoaning every aspect of their existence, the lengthy border block and the inference that foreigners are dangerous, will see you treated like a mobile disease by nervous locals if you ever navigate access.

If you are going to invest your time and effort in any way, given the continued rise in inflation and shortages, it needs to be something that can deliver a return. Three years in limbo followed by a career as a leper is a very bad return. Persisting in trying to go somewhere where you clearly are not welcome suggests a stalker mentality that you might want to rethink.
