A recent poll revealed that less than 25% of the Brazilian population will cheer for the Brazilian team and there are now strikes and demonstrations against the event. Yes! Avoid supporting this economic crime against the people.

This article shows EXACTLY the 1st reason why I moved to this country. Everyone should pe thankful for living in a country as peaceful as here. Was just thinking with myself today, all this big globe and there's so few places where you can feel 100% and free from armed conflicts, intolerance, urban violence, dictatorships, crazy people with access to guns, etc. Japan, New Zealand and the Nordic Countries.

I was shocked at how much it all cost, expecially when compared to previous competitions. Have a look at WC2014 on Wikipedia.

Brazil 2014 cost 14 billion dollars (the most expensive yet).

2nd was Germany 2006 at 6 billion

US 1994 was only 30 million!!!!!! Now that's what I call a bargain!

So please tell me, what's the purpose of going then, especially during the WC if you can't use any transportation, tourist areas or can't even use your phone? I saw the people getting on the subway the other day, it's almost worse than Tokyo, I'm not even sure of they can handle these games properly. @roughneck is right, just don't go then OR go after the WC is finished.

I'm a brazilian guy, who live in one of the host cities (Manaus, Amazonas), and this fear of muggings and assaults is mostly concerning to Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. Manaus is well-known for being very cosy and attractive to people who love to get into adventures. And we are very safe here, I promise, so don't be afraid to visit us whether in the world cup or anytime...
