United Airlines Japan on Wednesday started a special campaign to mark the 25th anniversary of its first flight to Japan. The company will give out special items autographed by figure skaters Mao and Mai Asada, golfer Momoko Ueda and five other athletes whom the company sponsors.
The campaign will be conducted through Nov 10 on the company's website. Applicants don't need to buy flight tickets but have to sign up to be eligible for the presents.

I was on one of their early flights, I think their second one. There were only 80 people on the whole airplane so I ended up with a first class meal and a row that I used as a bed. I predicted they would lose money in the Japan market because all of the stewardess were my mother's age or older and wider than the aisle.

However, if you want a beer on your flight to the US...that'll be 6 bucks.

Never flown United. I'm afraid to ask but are they any good?

I shall be happy with 'special item(s)' not necessarily autographed. But i am sure these 'special items' = 'tsumaranai mono'

took the words right outta my mouth. Maybe I'll try to win something so I can put it up on yahoo auctions so I can afford a couple beers on my next flight.

DenshaDeGo, when mentioning US airlines nowadays, "good" is not an adjective often used. Suffice to say you will arrive at your destination safe, if not satisfied or rested. And I echo borscht's sentiments regarding United's cabin crew. If you like eye candy, stick with the Asian airlines.
