jesus. and didnt the price of fuel recently drop?

thepro - yes it did. But increasing 2nd bag price will let them increase their profits, which is what it's all about.

Not that it affects any premier mileage members anyway... Their poor service and surly fat old flight attendants are reason enough for me to avoid flying UA in the first place, especially on trans-pacific routes.

Why doesn't United say fuel prices remain 1000% higher than 20 years ago and tack on a $500 second-bag fee?

it is hobson's choice to take either american based airliners. un-reasonable surcharges, paid beverage, meal, blanket, pillow, in-flight entertainments, etc..etc... a 2k ticket price tag eventually comes up @ 5k

i would presage the results is a negative one, vacational air travellers would be shrug off from ticketing counter.

US Airliners: keep your gung-ho to big spender, 1st class, executive class customers. more airline insolvencies is expected for the rest of 2008, cheer!!!

"Travelers in first or business classes will be exempt"

Yeah, they can't afford the $50, unlike the economy class travelers.

Of course the first and business class travelers actually already paid for the second bag when they forked over two to three times the price for their seat as an economy class seat.

Unfortunately people will still continue to fly even it was $100. Just like cars are still being bought even with the crazy oil costs. The only way to win is to stand up to the companies and dont give them your money. This wont happen however, and corporations know this. All these surcharges are beyond ridiculous.

It does not effect me, as I travel a lot. But I think its BS to charge these rates. It's not like they are cutting costs in the US. I'd rather fly JetBlue and have satellite TV at every seat, and pay less (not to mention the leg room is great compared to "E-crap-omy Plus" on UA.

Who the heck charges PER BAG?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I would like to charge United an old bag fee when it comes to their cabin attendents. At $50 a pop that would pay for half my ticket.

how about a kick back for those who weight less than lets say 80kg. It's crazy to start paying for luggage when the guy next to you weighs 150kg.

Nice timing as oil slumps to $90 a barrel.

this is kind of strange. Because Air Canada just decided to allow passengers to have a 2nd bag for free. (they were charging $25 for the 2nd checked luggage) But they said, because of the retreat in the fuel price, they've decided to get rid of the charge. At least some Airline is not gouging their customers
