If greater vaccination helps to protect people around us, fully vaccinated foreign nationals entering a 55% fully vaccinated U.S. population would possibly have a positive impact.

I wished Japan would open up the borders soon so that I could finally reunite with my partner. At the same time, it should follow a number of criteria to avoid for a sixth time case hikes e.g. 1) people entering are vaccinated/recovered and follow the rules of quarantine, 2) risk groups are vaccinated to a minimum of 90%, 3) no infection increase while the number of daily testing has been stable/increasing over a period of x weeks. With that being said, its utopia that I'll see my partner anytime soon in the country I still call home.

In theory that is true but the number of travelers is too small relative to the size of the US population to have any noticeable benefit.

Do you like vaccine passports?

"Like"? The question is irrelevant in a pandemic. Do I think it's the responsible way for societies to move forward would be the relevant question. (I do)

Do you honestly want a QR code at every door?

"Want" once again makes for an irrelevant question in a pandemic. Do I think it's the best way for societies to move forward would be the relevant question. (I do)

The UK and even Russia have both announced they are banning vaccine passports.

If you fly to the UK unvaccinated you'll still have to isolate for 10 days upon arrival at your own expense, whereas vaccinated passngers can merrily go on their way.

The tide is turning against discrimination and authoritarianism.

It turned in November last year.

UK won't even require PCR tests prior to travel from October 4th for those vaccinated. Just a pre booked 2 day test post arrival and the Location form online. Rules will not change for those unvaccinated.

The derided (by some) certificate issued by your local ward/city office will be accepted by the UK, to clarify. Pleased I got mine.

Studies are beginning to find that “vaccinated” people carry and spread higher covid viral loads than the naturally immune because the jabs don’t actually attack the virus itself. So, travel restrictions like this are dangerous and counterproductive.

No need for quotations, "vaccinated" people are actually vaccinated.

Got any links to these studies? Are they only beginning to find that, or have they concluded so?

The cynic in me has some doubts that what you have concluded is different to what you actually read.

Please @cla68 - Back your 'viral load' theory up with some credible links please. And, yes we are Vaccinated - Not 'Vaccinated'

No, studies are not finding that.

@Burning Bush: I too have always found Denmark and Sweden to be very progressive, as is noted in their fully vaccinated percentages of 75% and 66% respectively thus far.

unvaccinated quarantine for 10 days at your own cost, vaccinated come right on in. LOL

Sweden. Denmark (now). Slowly sanity prevailing.

Travel to the US is not as a big a deal as (say) travel to Singapore or New Zealand. And anyway the US has more than enough homegrown virus not to bother too much about importing some.

Joe Biden has got the virus on the run and now is allowing sensible policies to be introduced.

where are those that said vaccines passports will never happen, lol

where are those that said vaccines passports will never happen,

Some people were saying it was a conspiracy theory at the start, which was stupid, as governments were openly talking and preparing for them last year. I've been a supporter/pusher since the start.

If there was ever a "conspiracy theory" I'm glad was true, it's this one.

I wonder whether the airlines will require a PCR test prior to boarding. It wouldn't make much sense, considering the passengers would have been allowed on a packed train going to the airport.
