Vietnam Airlines has confirmed that it will operate one-way flights between Vietnam and Japan from Sept 18.
The flights will serve the increasing needs of passengers wishing to work, study and stay in Japan.
Flights from Hanoi to Narita Airport (Tokyo) will depart at 23:45 on Sept 18, 25 and 30. Flights from Ho Chi Minh (Saigon) to Narita will depart at 00:01 on Sept 30.
Vietnam Airlines will operate the flights with Boeing 787 aircraft.
The entire crew will undergo health checks and remain in quarantine upon flight completion as per current regulations. All areas of the aircraft operated for these flights (the crew compartments, passenger cabins, and cargo holds, etc.) will be thoroughly sprayed with disinfectants meeting international health standards.
The airline also plans to resume return flights from Japan to Vietnam, pending actual disease developments and the approval from the relevant authorities. In addition, Vietnam Airlines is building a plan to resume flights to Korea, China, Taiwan (China), Laos, and Cambodia in the near future.

Not really true. They're serving the needs of Japanese consumers and farms. The Japanese people would become desperately hungry if the foreign "internees" (LOL) weren't around to grow and harvest their food.

Taiwan (China)?

Must be a few Japanese willing to go there on holiday since it's relatively free of Covid-19. Not many other options in the world these days. Wonder if you have to quarantine when you get there?

@kyotoamigo Unless you’re a businessman, because then they resume flights for business people? I mean, I think that whole 14 day quarantine requirement is still there, but they did allow flights for business people between the two countries, last time I checked.

good question. In fact, I’ve been wondering about that myself, since I live in the US. I mean I know people coming to the US, there’s only a short list of countries that flat out band for nationals from entering the country.
But other than for business traveI haven’t heard anything about Japan, let alone Vietnam.
