Exactly. It's the path we're already on, I'm afraid. Kubrick pointed it out with "Clockwork Orange". Between gratuitous violence in movies and video games, and then physical manifestations, it's like a self-licking ice cream cone.

Bringing up Alfred Hitchcock was an excellent argument against gratuitous violence. I know I personally can't stand to watch graphic violence, but I hold a strange sort of fascination with Hitchcock productions.

Hollywood cant see beyond the dollar sign hence the lowest common denominator story lines ie: violence....

Here's a thought. How about making quality films with good story lines?
