How can corruption be eliminated from organizations that control global sporting events, such as FIFA and the IOC, for example?

While completely removing corruption is a pipe dream, but that does not mean efforts are not made to have proper checks and balances in place

Even international bodies need to be registered somewhere - local jursdiction applies.

In principle this works if in practice it may not.

For instance the IOC and FIFA are based in Switzerland - what are the checks and balances there like?

Stop moving the games around the globe. Summer games in Athens. Winter games in Norway. Done.

Stop the events.

Cancel the events in their entirety.

You wouldn't see me shed a tear.

Like browny1 said, it's not possible. The organizations are too big and there's too much money on the line. I guess you could fire everyone and start from scratch, but it would just happen again.

It can't be eliminated.

This is the World of Power by Money.

Money speaks all languages and all terms.

When you have athletes being paid disgusting amounts of money for plying their craft (eg Euro footballers, MLB players on US$100s millions) the sport as the prime concern in itself, has long gone. It's all about Power & Control to further ehance and increase revenue.

Witness for example the mighty Dentsu Corp's mastery of the Olympics phenomena.

Many learned folks know that their interest in the Olympics is All about capitalization. They are not a charity.

With such huge amounts of Money flowing every which way - and some more - corruption will always be prevalent.
