How do you think the planned increase in the sales tax in October will affect your spending habits?

I still have to buy food, so life goes on.

Nothing will change. I still need to buy food, gas, pay bills, etc.

Might make my calculations a little quicker... 10% instead of 8%... Might not... But otherwise life goes on just as the other two comments suggest.

Spend even less, probably.

Not in particular, in my view. Because I don't often purchase expensive goods such as TV, PC or luxrury car, or rather I cannot afford to buy them as the salary doesn't increase, actually our employer is unwilling to do so. On the contrary, it'll become a little easier to caluculate the total cost at the supermarket than in a few dacades.

Just be careful of what I purchase, I guess. Am used to having to tighten the belt.

No more one yen coins at the 100 yen shops.

I guess ill be wasting more plastic. Or ill be dishonest. Haven't decided which yet.

Maybe not so much. But as Haaa Nemui already said, it’ll be easier to calculate. I really hope stores will stop displaying “before sales tax” prices. “Tax included” seems more honest, plus it’s easier to know what you’re spending.

When tax increased from 5% to 8%, Starbucks, Uniqlo, and many other companies deceived the public by charging the original price (which already included the 5% tax) and added 8%.

I'd like to see JT make a blacklist of companies that take the opportunity to make another sneaky price increase when price tags include tax again.
