If you are working remotely, how do you prevent frequent video meetings from causing you fatigue or adversely affecting your productivity?

My "glass of water" has a shot of vodka in it.

I don't have video meetings, but checking in on JT sure wastes a lot of my time. Self-inflicted, of course.

Our Japanese boss insists it remain “on”, Picture in Picture, so he can monitor productivity and ‘breaks’ throughout the work day.

I'd quit. Even prison cells dont have round the clock surveillance.

Weird company. Are you sure this applies to everyone or just you ;)?

I just listen to the audio if possible or if the meeting is not important at all, I just use it as background noise. In my case, video meetings are rare but when they do hold them, they're just your typical monday morning townhall meetings that remind the same stuff every week.

I work from home have for years but I am a craftsman.

Now my wife and both my adult children are working from home 3 people regularly on zoom and I get tired of having to tiptoe around to avoid noise or walking in on meetings.

So when their bosses start having to many or to long meetings I make it a point to start working on bthe noisiest stuff I can, I walk in on meetings rummaging in closets "looking" for tools or Material I supposedly need to do my work.

It took a month or so but now all 3 of their companies have cut meetings down to a few times a week.

90% of the meeting were useless and just excuses for bosses to seem like they are important.

Most of my children and wife's co-workers said my actions are why they now have peace and quiet and few online meetings interrupting their work day.

My friend's wife will go into the kitchen and start chopping up food loudly around 11:00 then again around 15:00 as he is on meetings in the kitchen dining area or send the children in to watch TV volume on high.

This seems to work quite well for him.
