Many junk food is much cheaper in Japan, who really created this problem? Does JGovt aware about this?

Come on Japan Today? Really, you are asking this question. Of course it is all about price and how JA is screwing the poor people of Japan holding a monopoly on almost all fresh fruit and vegetables. Last week at our local supermarket a head of cabbage was almost Y600, 2 tomatoes were Y550. If you are lucky and you can find a farmers market you might be able to get them at a lower price, but not everyone has that ability!

On average, we eat more than 10 different vegetables per day and probably more than 500 grams. If the price increases we stop buying them but replace them with another.

After rice, salad is the most expensive thing on my table. Like wallace noted, we rotate around whatever veggies are cheapest, but that's getting harder to do.

We look for reduced prices but with the vegetables still in good condition.

The government needs to abolish sales tax on all food items. Currently 8%.

In recent years, even seasonal foods are expensive. You shouldn't be paying an arm and a leg for cabbage, daikon, and Chinese leaves in winter. If this is because "it rained in Aichi", then the government should pay for diversification to ensure half of any particular crop aren't grown in one prefecture. A country with natural disasters needs to aim for resilience, not the absolutely cheapest just-in-time way of doing things so long as Nature complies with conditions A, B, C, and D.

People eating worse food will cost the Government more in health care. Surgical procedures are not cheap.

This is one of the reasons why I believe the government's propaganda for "we all live to be 100, so let's push nenkin payment to 80!!" is a BIG FAT lie.

The people living to 100 today were drinking miso, eating fermented foods and fish. Today's youngsters eat white processed bread for breakfast, karaage for lunch, gyudon for dinner. They're not gonna live to 100.

Also the switch to more ultra-processed foods into the diets of more people is another reason.

And when more moms are forced to work to help make ends meet, there's less time for them to cook dishes from scratch with veggies.

Less extended families also means that grandmas aren't around cooking things from scratch as much as before either.

Smaller household cook less, DINKS eat out far more, many just trying to save time but don't do proper 'health' calculus, as processed foods cost you time and quality of life = dealing with $health problems and longevity.

Most foods have some degree of processing wheat is turned into flour. Ultra processed foods with high levels of sugar and salt should be controlled and limited.

no idea how many grams but, no animal products for me, so my entire diet is 'vegetable'.....
