Do you plan to watch any of the Tokyo Olympic opening ceremony on TV on Friday night?

I'll pass, but I'd want to see who would have the honor of lighting that glorified bonfire.

A part of me, the dark part, feels like it wants to watch it for the Schadenfreude of watching what is a trainwreck of historical proportions like, pretty badly.

The other part of me is just disgusted by this whole nonsense and does not want to condone it in any way.

I'll force myself to pass.

No.

I’d rather gouge my eyes out with a rusty fish hook, so, no.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Nope. I can’t recall watching one since 2000.

The Port Adelaide Vs Collingwood game will be more entertaining and will involve far less nationalistic back-patting.

I have far more important things to be doing.

I gave up on the olympics when professional sports entered it. I mean, Olympic golf?!?!

No.

No. There's a new series of This Time with Alan Partridge I'll be watching instead.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

No. I'll be watching otter videos on Youtube instead.

If it is running on the TV in my Mom and Pop's Izakaya, then Yes.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Definitely no.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

No. There are a 1001 better things you can do with the time.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Maybe. I want to hear the simulated fan noise.

The Port Adelaide Vs Collingwood game will be more entertaining

the battle of the black & white stripes

We have an Izakaya reservation from 5:30 to 10 pm, So, not watching and no interest.

‘Other options’ as @AlfieNoakes 8:22am suggested will be more entertaining and informative. For example, while Tokyo wallows in their Olympic stew, necessary topics like effective measures to avoid Covid can be viewed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77IZttD_pU8

No - absolutely zero interest for the zero risk event

"zero risk" of me watching it too.

Will be very difficult to avoid such a brainwashing propaganda as it is broadcast on all news and on all channels.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Nope.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

No, in protest of the IOC holding Japan to ransom and forcing the games to go ahead. What I want to know is "Who is going to take responsibility with the covid aftermath?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

No.

As a sports fanatic it pains me to say that as usually I’d be trying to watch as much of the Olympics as I could.

This time is different though.

I have 2 acquaintances who are competing, so I’ll watch their events, but apart from that I’ll be staying switched off.

NO!

I'd rather do something productive, like sanitize the garbage pail.

Yes, watched it a bit now. It looks hot and muggy. Those people deserve a medal for showing up.

We hope you enjoyed it & make it home safely, friend:

- @Monty 7:29am: “At 8pm I will be in my Mom & Pop’s izakaya, the opening is on their TV so, I will also watch it a little bit. I can bring my own sake and so probably around 9pm I am already drunk. - First shot: Jul 2nd, Second shot: Jul 30th, (Ok...+2 weeks)... middle of Aug.”
