Yes, winter is better, even though European leagues will complain about splitting their season into two. FIFA is having plenty of regrets about awarding the World Cup to Qatar in the first place. Sure, the stadiums might be air-conditioned but that's of little use to fans when they are not at games. Try wandering around the city in 45-degree temperatures. It doesn't make for a fun atmosphere.
The 2022 World Cup should have been awarded to Australia. True, they are not a world soccer power, but they are a sporting nation and know how to have a good time at major sporting events. There would have been no trouble filling stadiums and it would have been a festive atmosphere.
This is the ugliest scandal upright in the public. While FIFA and most decent soccer fans are against match-fixing, this UEFA head wittingly chose a very bad location because of some of his non-monetary-direct reasons, promising in advance that he would change from summer to winter should Qatar won. Even non-monetary-direct, this is a cheat obviously. Why is he so shameless?
No. why should the fact that they bribed their way into getting this disrupt the entire Northern Hemisphere football season? This should either be played in the extrerme heat or decision taken to move itr elsewhere.
I would like to see countries boycotting this World Cup and an alternative put in its place. The Qatar decision was soobviously corrupt that I am amazed at how little fuss there has been.
weather dictates NO MAN.. least of all a true athlete! everyone needs to adjust to the setting of their host country, it'll be like saying don't hold the Olympics in the UK cuz it rains all the time.

But it doesn't rain all the time in the UK. Anyway, more than the athletes, the people going there to watch are at more of a risk of heatstroke.
Yes move it... who in their right mind would hold a sporting event in a middle eastern country in the summer? Northern Europeans and Americans would be overcome with heat exhaustion just queuing... imagine the sweltering heat of a stadium.

Qatar can and will. They will swamp cooler (evaporator cooler) the whole city if they must. It's a dry heat anyway = easy fix. Really the heat will be a non-issue.
Under Blatter, FIFA have a history of awarding world cup tournaments to countries to help 'expand' the game, and therefore the absolutely massive business of football/soccer.
USA in 94, Japan/Korea in 2002 have both helped (re)ignite an interest in the sport and the development of a reasonably healthy and sustainable league (can't say I know too much about Korea to be honest).
The decision to award the WC to Qatar is another example of this, although i'm not sure how successful it will be, especially with the expected weather.

No. Too early to predict weather forecast or climatic situation for 2022 - Athletes should prepare themselves for extreme (hot/cold) conditions.

No. I think it should be moved completely.
Qatar was an awful choice to start with.

Agreed. It should be somewhere nice in Europe. Not Qatar. Also it's an islamic country... now that's wrong! red flags!

One of the most idiotic decisions FIFA has ever made and that's a competitive field.

LOL.
Everybody's gonna be broke in 2022. They'll be lucky if the world teams can afford the airfare.

Hell NO. FIFA needs to cowboy up and move it somewhere else. Anywhere else would be better.
SamuraiBlue
They can have all the games played at night in which case it will be cooler.

how much money changed hands to award Qatar the WC in 2022?
Serrano
If they have to have it in Qatar, have it in the winter.
SimondB
But if they move it will the bribes have to be paid back?

No. This travesty should be changed and competition given to somewhere more playable and less corrupt.

"This should either be played in the extreme heat"
That option seriouisly sucks.
"the heat will be a non-issue"
I doubt it.
