Do you think the COP26 summit currently being held in Glasgow will result in any effective measures to deal with the adverse effects of climate change?

No.

As usual the mountain will give birth to a mouse

I think it will prove at least as effective as the previous 25 COP summits combined.

No, but it would have been refreshing to hear the actual hardships expected in both "rich" (includes highly indebted), and poor countries. To meet the graph shown in another article there will have to be massive disruption, as in "cut your daily power consumption by 50+%" level disruption. I don't see individuals and business in the American South stopping using AC, nor the North East not heating homes and buildings.

Discussing hard realties that people will have to face would go a long way for credibility on these. If you can't get support with reality, then we have our answer.

Nope, not at all.

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

When 25 times of doing something leading to nothing there should be no 26

Absolutely no!

Lots of wringing of hands(while certain elites napped during speeches) and talking about meaningless proposals. La Nina/El Nino have bigger impacts on climate than any human causes.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

No. Because the attendees themselves don't really believe the so called science. If they truly did they would do everything in their power to avoid the 'coming catastrophe'.

At this point my expectations are so low that so long as they don’t decide that the new climate plan is to mail Abenomasks to everyone on Earth a few months from now, I’ll count it as a win,

Lots of people do not know the basics chemistry, behind global warming, that is cause by the oxidation of hydrocarbons, into one atom of carbon and two atom of oxygen, the basic equation C +O yield CO2

Loony measures? Yes.

Effective and REALISTIC measures? NO.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Yes. But governments must implement the plans in a correct way as most of the populations do not understand the severity of the problem. If things that cause the green house gases emissions are not made available, the populations won't be contributing to the problem.

Moreover, equal stress must be given to use up the CO2 in the air like plants do. Its a cycle. Merely reducing The CO2 emissions is only half attending the problem. The other half is use-up the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.

And don't worry much. Nature knows much better how to take care of herself & that includes preserving humanity.

In short, NO !!!

You are joking right? We are the virus on this planet, nature is doing everything possible to get rid of us not preserve us... If it can wipe 90% of us out, it will survive. If not, nothing will survive.

Hundreds of private jets flying to Glasgow would yield nothing but hot air, and CO2. The end result is a lot of empty promises and no real action by alarmists and Greta the professional whiner.

Haven't we heard the world is ending since 1972?

Does the weather report in the evening news effectively change tomorrow’s weather? lol

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

No. Just more talk.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

No.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Of course not. The problem is that the world is overpopulated by about 90% at the moment. Until you bring this number down to a more suitable planetary carrying capacity, nothing will change. It's actually already too late anyway.
