How can public health officials around the world help COVID-weary people, who are are sick and tired of being told to wear masks, keep their business closed and keep their distance from others, to maintain their guard against the coronavirus?

Perhaps by stop bothering us, treating us like babies and accepting that some of us are willing to take risks in a world where viruses, bacteria and other threats have always existed.

Like in Sweden, where the response by the Public Health Authority has resulted in a death rate nearly as bad as the the US?

Not to mention:

Sweden’s overall Covid fatality rate so far has been on a par with America’s and roughly ten times that of Norway and Finland;

Anders Tegnell, Sweden’s chief epidemiologist, expected to see Covid antibodies in 40 per cent of Stockholm county residents by the end of May but the actual level was 6 per cent;

Not locking down did not save Sweden’s economy, which shrank faster that its neighbours’ in the second quarter of the year, by 8.3 per cent.

More than 40 per cent of Covid deaths in Sweden have been in care homes, suggesting a strategy of shielding the vulnerable while letting the rest of the country stick to business as usual didn’t work either.

7% of all Stockholm nursing home residents have died.

End the lockdowns now.

Actually its the "public" that need to change their attitudes and actually just listen to the guidance, instead of acting like belligerent children who can't be told. We would of had this way under control had people taken it seriously when it started. Europe decided to party the summer away and look at it now, there is nothing the Government Public Health Officials can do or say if no one places any value on what they say.

Ask the people which of their relatives and strangers they’d like to see die of Covid19, alone and in isolation while they, the people, bask in the glory that is eating in a coffee shop.

I had the same idea with borscht, remind people that these measures aren't meant to oppress them but to help prevent the disease from spreading and more deaths from occurring. governments should capitalize on this. But on the other side of the fence, there are skeptics that would look at these measures as a justification to introduce more social control.

Tell them to buck up, grow up, and deal with it.

Public health officials have made many mistakes. People should still have the right to do as they see fit.

Education and training, there is no easy way. People that can't understand science can be easily convinced by misleading actors that are looking for their own profit. People that at least have some notion about what science is and how we as humans find which things are real or not can resist those attempts of misinformation and see for themselves the heroic efforts of the health service workers and listen to their recommendations.

I just want to travel. It's heartache, not being able to see my girlfriend who went to visit her folks in her native country and is stuck there, while I'm confined in mine. Emails don't replace hugs.

What’s the problem everyday? It is now known, that the virus can withstand 4weeks under best lab conditions. So a hard and brutal lockdown for five , six weeks will do. What is so extremely difficult to understand with that? A two week’s announcements before such a lockdown for everyone to have time to travel, buy food, drinks, batteries, candles, whatever. And then is everything shut down without exemptions, controlled by police and military, sick people taken out into hospital treatment. And that’s it. A merry X-mas and full scale olympics next year included. Don’t talk stupid and discuss, just do it!
