How concerned are you that planned legislation by the Japanese government, targeting conspiracies to commit terrorism and other crimes, could allow police to trample on civil liberties?

Not at all. Stasi, Savak or Kenpeitai, these benevolent forces all deeply respected civil liberties. We must be on alert to threats from within/without. It's a small price to pay for our beloved freedoms, amirite? Take care of me Daddy Abe!

I would like first to check the terms in the original legislation draft text in the original Japanese text for nuance, inference and context

'Conspiracy to commit ....' generally means that suspects have been thinking about it with some intention to act. Well, I think about Trump all the time and most surely I do not begin act on my thoughts, or I would be incarcerated based on some NSA surveillance data. Intention would require evidence.

However, if the nuance of 'Conspiracy' means that, say, proof is not required and it is just is up to some mawarisan's or Abe's discretion I would worry a lot.

This country has had enough of all of that across many ages in its history. Do they really want to go down the path of state-paranoia again? Or, so it begins, again!
