I've been dating my boyfriend for some years now. In the beginning all my friends wondered why someone like me who has many men at her feet would fall for this man. But I know that I'm really in love with this man. He's intelligent, knowledgeable, kind-hearted, warm and is always there when I needed a shoulder to cry on....

The ways I know.

I think about her welfare before my own. I cannot imagine anyone ever taking here place in my life. Even when she drives me crazy I love her. She's my best friend. Being with her feels like home.

Passion and scents are fine just starting out. But after years together you will know if love is there or not based on things like my list. Those will make a relationship endure or not.

Often this has nothing to do with personality, giving rise to the situation where someone feels they are in love with someone they don't like.

I disagree. Knowing you love someone is your ability to accept the things you don't like about them. Love may bring out a person's better qualities, and hopefully it does, but it won't remake them.
